We’ve been coming to Riva Fish House for 20+ years. Hubby and I both love their food choices and specials
I’ve been to Riva several times in the past and has always been good...hate to say it , but today I just had a couple of drinks (good) and some calamari... I have to admit the calamari was horrible...aside from being way over cooked it also obviously had the smell of being burnt...I’ll go back , but I’ll just order something else next time ?♂️... I didn’t get the bartenders name , but his service was second to none ?Thursday July 7th at about 3:00 pm...
Went here for dinner with my beautiful wife and kids for her birthday. I ordered steak and shrimp tacos. My son had salmon sandwich with fries, wife had crab sandwich melt and for appetizer we had calamari. The calamari were good sized bites. Nice crunch when you bit into it. The meat was sweet and clean tasting. Not fishy like some places. Only downside was it didn't have tentacles just the body cuts but tasty nonetheless. So my steak tacos were good size portion. Steak cuts were pretty good size cuts. Not chopped into minced sizes, so you actually got good bite from the steak. What made the steak taco stand out was the shrimp that was included into it. They were a good complement to each other. The seasoning and sauce were good with a hint of spice all served in a corn taco. My son's salmon sandwich was served in a sour dough roll. Lettuce and other produce were left on the side so you could decide what you wanted to add to the sandwich. As for flavor it was a bit of disappointment. It was a bit bland. There wasn't and seasoning on the salmon other than the char from the grill. My son just dipped the sandwich in the ranch dressing that came with it. My wife's crab melt was full of crab and was flavourful. That sandwich too was pretty good sized serving. Last but not least I had a Rum cocktail drink to wash down the tacos. It was ok nothing to write home about. In my opinion it was a bit watered down and not enough rum as well as not enough of the juices that were supposed to be mixed in it. Over all it wasn't a bad experience. The service was good, the waiter was very tentive checking on us every so often and made sure we were OK with our orders and if we needed anything. What's nice too is they still have out door dining for those wanting to eat outdoors.
We are locals and have been going to Rivas since the 80s. We always went to locals night , up to covid days. We went back tonight and WHATS happened.?Our locals who used to work there are all gone. The service sucked Period. Bus boys walking by without filling water. 1 waitress working 10 tables. we are bummed out. PETER whats going on.?place, tables were dirty, service sucked, pasta dish was terrible, vegis tasted like frozen vegis still cold inside. fish was ok, salad was old, o ya,, service sucked! We need to rethink our fav local spot. Maybe a new Manager Would help. He spent his time walking in and out of office, not working the customers like Rebecca used to.. Wow Im shocked
Have been here before. Had lunch with a beloved Aunt and the food was awesome. Love their fisherman’s platter, they are generous with the fish, you don’t end up with a plate and f stale fries. Everything is hot and fresh. We even got a window table. Perfect afternoon, front staff is especially hospitable and easy to work with
Great service and fresh food right on the Santa Cruz Wharf. We were lucky enough to get a table with the waterfront view. They also have outdoor dining on the wharf.
the bar/restaurant was reasonable busy, but we got a window seat. it obviously caters to tourists strolling the wharf. despite its being a fish house, I ordered the special, which was barbecued ribs, and they were actually pretty good. but my wife, thinking it was a fish house, ordered the fish and chips, and thought they were rather sub-par. go figure.
Great selection of seafood at this restaurant. Lovely staff who were helpful. Mind the pigeons hovering if you are eating outdoors. I am sure other restaurants in the area have the same problem.
Stopped in for lunch today and was not disappointed. I had the spicy linguine with clams and veggies, it was delicious. It came with a cup of clam chowder or a salad, I chose the chowder. Again, delicious. Food came out pretty quick, the host and server were both great. Would definitely come here again when visiting Santa Cruz.
Really enjoyed the food here. Had the bread bowl clam chowder. You can't beat the views and the prices are reasonable. Our waitress Danielle was super nice and very accommodating. I was born in Santa Cruz and hadn't been back in 40 years. I was just a little kid when I moved away what a great place to eat to be welcomed back home.
