The good: The meal was very good. My wife’s shrimp/crab Louie was very good as was my surf and turf. Our table by the widow provided an excellent view of a light house and Cowells beach. The Bad: The floor was a mess. In all locations the carpet was heavily stained and needed vacuuming. The service was slow. Appetizers and cocktails were brought out at the same time as the entrees.
We had to wait about 12 minutes to be seated, but were acknowledged. And service was good after that. Excellent luncheon salad with crab meat. And 14.95 prime rib on Wednesdays ( plus potato, veggies, salad with it.)This restaurant is old school diner atmosphere but I visit here for the view and the food. Separate little bar off the lobby.
The service was very very slow not to mention my vegetables were cold. We weren’t given our soup, salad or bread until half way through our main course and after we reminded our waiter that we never received them. We had to ask for sour cream and sauces for our fish. Our waiter never ask us if we wanted more ice tea. The only time our waiter was quick with a responsive is was when we had our credit card in our hand. We will never be back. We were shocked because Gilda’s was a great place to eat when prior owners were in charge.
Good seafood, generous portions. One of us had the sauteed salmon and liked it; one had the white clam chowder and liked it a lot; one had the crab Louis salad (served in an iceberg lettuce bowl!) and loved it. I had the crab cakes, which were large, delicious, and made almost entirely of crab (yummy), but they were quite salty and had numerous bits of interior crab shell in them, so take small bites and chew carefully. By "interior crab shell," I mean they had removed almost all of the thick, obvious, exterior crab shell and missed the less obvious, non-digestible, non-chewable, hard, thin, nearly invisible parts of the crab shell. Other than that, it was great! Quite tasty.
Love the daily specials! Excellent quality and the staff there are fantasticHave been coming here for years. Our fab place on the wharf.

The good was decent but it was a little discouraging when the host "said" I only have one server. The server worked his butt off trying to help all the customers in the restaurant. They weren't busy but for only having one person they were. Hats off to the young man that kept a positive attitude and still gave AMAZING service. I would definitely go back and hope this young man is still there and has the same great attitude. I wish I could remember his name because he was the best. As a manager myself its hard to find employees and even harder to find one to be so professional and positive despite the obstacles.
I love going here on Wednesdays. Food is great, staff is very friendly. I been there 4 times. Atmosphere is just very very relaxing. Highly recommend. Bill Jeffrey.
Delicious!! My mom & husband had the Cioppino Friday special yesterday. They just loved it. I had the best minestrone soup I have ever tasted at a restaurant, even better than my homemade one. We had the best cheese cake I have ever tasted also mmm-mmm. The view was beautiful also. The service was excellent! The bread is light & delicious. Every weekday they offer different special and they all sound good. When you finish check out the sea lions at the end of the pier, they are soooo cute!
Waitress was delightful. Restaurant is pretty dated.Only gave a 3 star because I ordered a scrambled egg and got an over easy. Hubby ordered over medium eggs that were pretty much over hard. I cut all the gooey whites off my yolk to give him a runny yolk, and I took one of his over hard eggs. Not the worst but not the best.
