Excellent Ramen bowl. I ordered curry vegetable bowl and it came out so good. Great customer service. 100% recommended.
The place is good. But The food was cold, the pasta was raw, the personal in the kitchen, they don’t know how to cook Ramen
When Kotsu opened, I was excited to endorse the new ramen shop in the neighborhood. They were thoughtful about their soft-opening and perfecting their product. Overall, they created a solid bowl of ramen. Lately, things have taken an unfortunate negative turn regarding service. On one occasion, I had to call in an order because I had a very short lunch period. I was instructed to go online and place the order. So, I followed instructions, but I ran into issues processing the transaction online. I called back to see if they would make a one-time exception as the transaction wasn't processing. On my follow-up call, I explained the situation and was forwarded to the manager who stated, "if I make an exception for you, then I need to make an exception for everyone else." This run-around ended up consuming the majority of my abbreviated lunch period.Today's experience was exceptionally cold and sterile. I walked into the restaurant (no other patrons). The waitress/clerk was cleaning a table. She briefly (but kindly) directed me to a self service kiosk to place my order, then returned to cleaning. I placed my order, and stood for 15 minutes in an otherwise empty restaurant, without receiving a greeting, acknowledgement, or eye contact from any staff.I wanted this business to succeed, so I tried to contact the Kotsu Headquarters: The website prompts people to invest in the organization or buy food. The phone leads you to order food over the phone (which was ironic). Unfortunately, Kotsu (in it's short existence) is already showing signs of large-corporation-mentality: seeing customers-as-a-commodity. Based on this experience (and experiences from friends), management is prioritizing protocol over customer service. Since I was not able to connect with corporate headquarters, I'm hoping that this detailed message provides constructive feedback which leads to positive change.
Service was really good here. Good ramen, got chili oil on the side so I could have some heat and mix in as needed. The Gyoza was all stuck together and broke as I tried to piece them out, but were really good.
I truly hope this place is successful. The food is awesome, it's prepared VERY quickly, and the prices are fair. Can't ask for more! Every employee I've interacted with so far has been really nice as well. My family will definitely be coming back more often.
Overall the taste was good, I got the spicy gyoza and even being from a frozen bag of then, the flavor was good. The deluxe ramen was really tasty but the amount of the broth was so little compared with the big bowl and compared with other places. Who doesn’t go to a ramen/soup place just for the juice/broth/soup on a cold day?
This place is over hyped. The spicy was just salty and sweet. Worst ramen I’ve ever had. And the rice bowl was spicy but the flavor over all was lacking.
Was there on a day that the kitchen was first turned on. Was unexpectedly welcomed in to try the ramen. Have to say this is one of the better places. Really happy its in our neighborhood! The tonkotsu and chashu were great! The Chicken Karaage (with curry) was awesome too! The curry was what I was and still am craving! My son and I really enjoyed it. The owners were there and were extremely cool. We planned on being back for the opening but forgot we had an out of town hockey tournament at that time. We'll be there soon! My kid keeps asking for it!
Great place and good food. Love the fact that soft openings allows you to fix the bugs in the system. First to go is the cashier… this dude obviously come from a different line of work, definitely not the service/restaurant.Nice selection of dishes. Enjoy.
My wife and I checked out this new ramen spot on Lyons. We ordered a few appetizers and their Kotsu Original Ramen which is a tonkotsu ramen. I was happy that their ramen noodles were Hakata style noodles similar to Shin-Sen-Gumi and not the yellow curly type like Daikokuya. The tonkotsu broth is on the mild, watery side and not your typical thick, salty, and fatty type. It could have used some extra garlic or soup base to make the broth stronger. We also like that they already include half of a soft yolk egg with the ramen bowl. For the appetizers, the seaweed salad was good, the original chicken karaage was tasty, and their takoyaki was not bad. Although it could have used a bit more bonito flakes as only one takoyaki ball had it. Lol.I would recommend providing small plates to the customers so they have a place to put their appetizers. Also, maybe subscribe to a music service for background music instead of playing it from the TV which requires someone to keep resetting the video when it finishes.Need to come back to try their gyoza and rice dishes next time.
