Good and delicious food ?
My 9 year old daughter loves the ramen at Orenchi. We have to stop by when we are in NorCal. I’m glad they started taking reservations.
I was invited by a local, this was super fun, neat Japanese cultural food, and nice on the Wallet! Outside dining was exciting at sunset. Very inviting! Next time I’m using Uber, drink menu was interesting
Authentic Japanese items with a few twists. Good, efficient, cheerful service without the chatter. Loved the Okonomiyaki style Fries. And the Salmon Ikura rice bowl was so good I wish I had a bigger stomach Next time I want to try their homemade Roasted Tea flavor ice cream!
Perhaps the most reviewed restaurant in the South Bay, with 5576 Yelp reviews, since they opened in 2010. Came here at 11:40am Friday March 26, 2021, 3 days after Santa Clara county entered California's covid 19 orange tier, allowing for 50% of indoor capacity dining. The county entered the red tier in mid February, allowing 25% indoor dining, which is what OR has. New covid hours with indoor dining are 10:30am-2pm, and 430pm-8pm daily. No new indoor/outdoor dining within 30 minutes of closing time. Place is virtually empty, with 7 tables outside under a tent, 3 outdoor tables next to the building, and 6 tables inside, only one of which is occupied. Unassuming hole in the wall restaurant, with very basic environment, furniture, and decorations. Usual social distancing with masks. Go up to the front window, order food and pay, before you are assigned one of 16 tables. Reduces the amount of time sitting at the limited number of tables, waiting for your order and waiting for your nonexistent check. I order the $13.80 Orenchi Ramen, and wife orders the $13.60 Shoyu Ramen. 15% surcharge added on to dine in orders, add in 9% tax, bringing the total cost of two soups to $34! We ask for an indoor table and are assigned one of 2 two person tables, 18" wide, as it is too cold at 64 degrees with 11 mph winds outside for my better half. 10 minutes later my dish comes with pork belly, sesame, green onion, bamboo shoots, soft boiled seasoned egg, dried seawood and mushrooms in a Tonkotsu (pork) noodle soup. Wife's dish comes with soy sauce based soup noodle, pork, bamboo shoots, wakame seaweed, Tokyo negi, fish cake, spinach, nori seaweed. They skimp on the pork, with a meager two razor thin pieces, partially full of fat to boot. The egg is soft boiled, not hard boiled like I like. Cut off the top of the egg, and the inside is not running, but not hard boiled. It's like a soft orange gel. The Tonkotsu ramen soup is like a chicken broth, but much fuller in flavor, and not too greasy, nor salty. Not as creamy nor as spicy as I would like. The noodles are thick and chewy just as I like. Wife's Shoyu ramen is much saltier than the Tonkotsu ramen, with much thinner noodles. Wife prefers the thicker noodles of my dish. No egg, but thicker pieces of pork. By the time we are done, line out the door, with all indoor tables filled, but only 3 of the 10 outdoor tables filled. They fill the 2 2 seat tables first indoors, and then the remaining 4 larger 4 seat tables, in this case each with 2 people. A case where coming early doesn't get you a better table. The outdoor tables under the tent are the two seaters, 18" wide, and last to be filled. Many seated people inside not wearing masks while waiting for their food. No need to wait for the check, as you paid up front, but lots of people socialize by talking long after their meal is finished, still unmasked, two bad habits they still haven't learned after 13 months of pandemic. Will have to remember to bring my N95 masks next time, as the regular paper masks won't protect you from covid from unmasked indoor neighbors talking. Comforting knowing that if you get covid, Kaiser Permanente Emergency Room is only a quarter mile away across the expressway! No 45 minute time limit like at Hiro Nori in Santa Clara. We are out of here at 12:09pm, 29 minutes after being seated, me slurping down all the soup down to the last drop, wife leaving the last of her broth as too salty. We would have made it in Hiro Nori time! Only my 3rd ramen review out of 1035 Yelp reviews. Yelper Dean C's 1 year old toddler has more experience with eating restaurant ramen noodles than me!
好吃,价钱适当,不过份量有点少
Long wait. hamachi carpaccio was disappointing. hotate garlic butter scallops was decent. The Orenchi ramen (tonkotsu) is great. I would go there just for ramen again, but not the appetizer.
The food was amazing!!!
One of our nephews highly recommended Orenchi Ramen for a family dinner out. This was our visit, we had 6 adults and a 2-year old on a Tuesday evening. Our nephew explained that the restaurant hours vary by day, it's good to check ahead when they open as often the wait times can be up to 2 hours before getting seated. We arrived around 5:30pm and discovered that they opened at 6:00pm on this night. There is an iPad in the reception area, be sure to add your name to the wait list. The server will call your party to be seated (make sure everyone is present). On another note, we were told that the restaurant will close as soon as they run out of soup which they do after each day due to so many customers. Our nephew helped us to order. We tried the Orenchi Ramen, Shoyu Ramen, fried garlic, french fries and chicken karaage. I thought that my Orenchi ramen was too salty and the egg a little runny. My nephew reassured me that this is how it should taste as he has traveled to Japan and had ramen overseas. The family members who tried the Shoyu ramen said their ramen was even saltier than the one I tried. Our nephew did a good job of setting the proper expectations with everyone in our group before we went out to try Orenchi Ramen. We arrived rather early to avoid a very long wait time. Our nephew also mentioned that it would be frowned upon to sit and chat long after we were done with our meal (as is typical in our family when we all go out as a group especially when having Italian or Mexican meals). This is because there are other customers waiting for a table, so we should "eat and go" shortly afterwards. The restaurant got rather crowded very quickly and many people arrived right before they officially opened. If you come as a "large group" be prepared to have only one check and the server will automatically add an 18% service charge. It's not a "cheap" place to eat but the food was good with rather large portion sizes. Many in our group had the asahi and sake so that added to the final tab which was close to $200.00 Overall, everyone in our group was happy with their meal. My husband and I would definitely return to Orenchi Ramen.
I love good Ramen, and it is not news this is one of the best places in the south bay to get great Ramen. One can occasionally find a vegetarian miso broth (many of the miso broths contain a meat base broth), with vegetarian contents, but the noodles are often made with eggs. For some great vegetarian ramen I will not worry about the egg noodles. BUT, if you want the tastiest, vegan broth filled with the best mix of eggplant, bell peppers with vegan noodles, go to Orenchi. My sons, who are not vegan absolutely love it as well. This is a fast in and out place--you'll be served and ready to go within 1/2 hour, but you may wait 45 minutes to be seated. Be patient--its worth it.
