Very disappointed. Food was not fresh (diarrhea) and the pricing for many items was ridiculous for the amount of food provided. Menu and wall ads were misleading. We went with a group of Chinese friends yesterday, and spent 270 USD for a group of five. They used a lot of condiments for the food, including spice/cumin/various powders, to power and COVER the original flavor of meat and veggies (probably not very fresh but we weren’t able to notice). We were delighted initially by the taste but then realized many items were grossly overpriced and the food was not fresh. The portions were way smaller than what we saw from some online blog posts. The photos on the menu and their restaurant wall were also super misleading. For example, the one bucket of corn at 13USD without a photo on the menu would make one think it would be several corns on the cob at least. Nope, it was a tiny plate of corn along with the cob chopped into pieces from probably a single corn. The bovine bone marrow was also close to 20 bucks, but we only got half of a tiny bone with essentially garlic oil and scallion on it. We had a mouthful of garlic oil and very little bone marrow... We asked the waiter if it was the wrong plate. We ordered the original flavor, not the garlic version… he responded the original just has less scallion and garlic… seriously? When we got home and looked up online, others posting photos with three bones altogether as a dish, and the ad on the restaurant wall also looked very delicious. This is insulting.. yea, there has been inflation, but cutting down raw material like this is just awful. What made me take time to write this post was because we got diarrhea when we got home.. meaning the food wasn’t fresh at all. We like the ambience there and wanted to bring more friends over when we were there, but not anymore.. I wonder if these giving high ratings were being served differently or the restaurant quality has drastically declined these days. :(
Friendly service even to non Chinese speakers like myself. Chicken and lamb were really juicy and not seasoned as heavily at other Chinese skewer spots in the Bay. Will come back again to try their foil pot dishes next time.
I love the grilled man tou buns. A shame they don't have grilled mushroom on the menu. The cold noodles are a must on a hot day.tip: You can order more skewers later if you're still hungry using the phone. The candle skewer warmers are a nice touch. They have various beverages not commonly seen in other restaurants so try them out! My favorite is the iced plum juice.
We came to the Petco nearby and found this place opened. Great food and great service. Love the chicken, shrimp paste and Chinese sausage. Super delicious. We will definitely visit again :)
The place we usually go to for skewer BBQ moved out of the South Bay, and they recommended Friendship BBQ as an alternative. The wait might be a little long, but if you check in advance it's not so bad. The food comes out super hot off of the grill. Only improvement I can think of is to add a couple more local beers to the selection.
Been here with friends and family twice. Both very pleasant experience, place is clean, staff were friendly and most importantly food is great! I am not a seafood person but you can tell the osyter and clams are super fresh. Meat skewers are very tasty. And I love the Malatang!
The grill is cute, it keeps the skewers warm all time. It’s authentic and yummy. Recommend it!
plainest taste eggplant
Nice BBQ in the Bay Area. Recommend trying their clams, oysters, Mongolian beef/lamb.
My friend and I went here on a Friday night. The music was so loud I couldn’t hear the staff or my friend sitting across from me. We ended up walking out.
