Yummy Korean BBQ and a very nice banchan. Took my parents to eat dinner and all of us really liked it!
Prices are on the high side but definitely worths it. The short ribs and the seafood pancake are the best i have had. Service was great if you like the meat to be cooked and served to you.
Although some of the items we originally wanted was sold out, we still enjoyed a delicious experience. Service was in top, servers were so prompt and fast! We did wait around half an hour during the late lunch rush on a weekend, but it was well worth the wait. Food and atmosphere altogether was amazing. I do appreciate that the restaurant offered a lunch menu along with their regular menu. Would return here in the future, so good.
This Restaurant looks really nice, a clean dining restaurant, it’s not your common grilling restaurant, waiters wait on you every 15 minutes, they make sure you are okey, they cook your meats and cut them for you. One of the best thing was we didn’t end up smelling like bbq at the end of the meal. We hade beef bone soup, cold soup and bbq ribs, plus the sides. This was more than enough for a person that loves food, their soup was so tasty I was blown away, or was I just so hungry either way I loved it. It was a small birthday dinner for just the party of two and it was good. Thank you for your kindness in serving us. We’ll visit again.
We ordered boneless short rib, also called Kalbi, the price was over $80, the meat looked good, but didn't have much taste. The second dish we had was black cod, $55 , not very fresh and the sauce was too sweet.
My favorite Korean restaurant in the Peninsula! It's very unassuming on the outside but inside everything is quality, from the gorgeous understated decor to every single side dish, you want to finish everything but can't. Order the yangyum shortribs (marinated shortribs) cooked at your table. The spicy stir fried octopus served in a cast iron bowl is always a winner.
SF Chronicle:Chungdam is an outright gorgeous restaurant, full of artistic touches like geometric, cloud-like light fixtures and subtly designed decorative ceramics. Even the outdoor seating area, an enclosed section of the parking lot, is decked out with potted plants and billowing sunshades. The restaurant specializes in short ribs, or galbi, grilled at the table and served with a diverse array of side dishes, like marinated raw crab, acorn jelly and macaroni salad. Try the suwon galbi ($74 per pound), seasoned with brown sugar and a touch of salt, which has just the right balance of sweet and savory. And don’t miss the galbijjim ($65), a monster-size meal of spicy braised short ribs topped with blistered cheese, which is tender, rich and big enough for several people to share.
The Food I've been to different Korean BBQ before, but my friends recommended Chungdam Restaurant. It is a more upscale Korean restaurant with BBQ selection. My friends and I ordered their BBQ Selection. - Seafood Pancake (해물파전) - Prime Boneless Shortrib (눈꽃살) - Prime Ribeye Steak (프라임생등심) - Beef Brisket, Thinly Sliced (차돌박이) Starting with the side dishes, most of them are pretty good. Though I would say the raw crab is a nice and unique idea, it is hard to eat as a side dish. On to the Seafood Pancake, gotta say it is pretty unique and I enjoyed it. Aside from the normal standard ingredients, there are thin crispy noodles wrapped around. The Prime Boneless Shortrib and Beef Brisket presented with good marbling, and it tasted very good. The Prime Ribeye Steak also presented with good marbling. Though we asked for medium rare, it was slightly overcooked. The Miscellaneous Chungdam is a fairly spacious restaurant. It is off of the main road, with a small parking lot and street parking towards the back. The inside has tables with and without grills. If you want to get KBBQ, ask for a table with a grill. Their staff are sincere and their service is very good. They will also do the grilling for you as well so you can enjoy your meal. The menu has a good variety and selection of items. Most people will focus on the BBQ Selections, but there is also Soups, Entrees, and Cold Noodle. They also have a wine menu if you want to pair some wine with your steak. It is pricey, because you are also paying for the service as well. Chungdam is a good restaurant for special occasions, but not for normal meals.
Tasteful food. Great service. Price is kind of high, but worth it for events.
