Everything was bad, I cannot understand how they got so many good reviews. Starting with the cancellation policy, a complete rip-off. They say if you cancel before 4pm the day of the dinner they will waive any charges. But they open only at 5pm, and nobody answers the phone before that. So, not wanting to lose 25$/person which they threaten us they will charge, we went here. The space was simply horrible, some worn out tables, in a complete tasteless interior, nothing appealing here, it looked like the railway bistro in a forgotten village. One big round table was right in front of the toilet, people were sitting side by side with the guys waiting in line to use the one and only toliet in the restaurant. The so called outside patios were just a few tables alongside the sidewalk, no sense of cozy setting. The food was the greatest disappointment, we came here for the bone marrow, but surprise: they transformed the marrow into some disgustingly sweet spread on a piece of toast. We had bone marrow in Europe, in Canada, at many places, everywhere it was savory, salt and pepper. For the main dish, we have to specify that what is in the menu does not include any side dish, you have to order it separately. We did not know and we forced ourselves to eat the fatty duck with the pork belly ramen! Cholesterol galore! The servers were somehow out of sync, they brought the food in random order, and for some reason they were rushing to get the plates out of the table before we even finish eating. Really bad experience in a really bad place, never again! If I can only erase my memory!
Maybe a place foodies would not necessarily find appealing to walk in compared to the many options around the center of Santa Barbara. But shaking this off, the service is very competent (incl. the knowledge about the wines offered) and the food was outstanding in taste and presentation. A really great place to go.
My wife wanted to go after reading the reviews. After reading the menu and not finding anything compelling she wanted to leave. The menu had a note about cocktails that were served at 24% alcohol. When I asked the server what that meant he replied the it didn’t matter because he had no bartender. He did offer to make a margarita and assured me it would contain alcohol. The margaritas were disappointing. The table was so sticky I presumed it was their mosquito or fly abatement program. My catch of the day was beautifully cooked with good flavor. The rice noodles in the dish were so “al dente “ to be unrecognizable. My wife’s chorizo risotto was pretty good too, though she thought the cheese in the dish was velvetia. Altogether the experience didn’t live up to my expectations.

Friend of mine had a dinner reservation here, unfortunately this did not grant us a seat inside and we were seated outside on a very cold and windy night. They offered to bring out heaters that unfortunately went out throughout the entirety of our dinner there. Felt like we had a third wheel during our first date. Which made it feel very awkward. I was expecting the food to be amazing, but it was honestly very bland. We were finally offered a seat inside once we had finished eating. Throught the course of our meal we had 4 different people try to fix the heaters. One guy even went as far as blaming us saying if we moved it then it shuts off. Our server had forgotten that we had ordered so he asked us a couple minutes after the fact. All in all it was a very strange night of them dropping the ball, would not go back.
Fantastic dinner! Started with a bone marrow brushcetta then onto wagu beef. My husband had the fish special, that was disappointing. The hard rice noodles didn't work with the delicate fish. But overall a wonderful meal.
Food was so tasty. Chef surprised us with an amazing tasting menu. Owner and chef came out to check in on us. Owner suggested whiskey sour and it didn't disappoint. Staff was friendly and attentive. Would come back anytime.
Arguably a special occasion so the cooks made their very best. Really delicious and fanciful dishes. Also very nice cocktails. Full house but the staff managed very well to take care of everyone. Informal atmosphere.
Ruben is our server. He is very friendly and professional. The restaurant serves our food promptly. Fried cauliflower is the best.
What an am experience!!! We were fortunate enough to do the tasting menu and everything was above anything I expected!! The skate wing, the bone marrow, and hazelnut torte were three of the most wonderful dishes I have ever experienced in my life. I cannot wait to bring friends there that enjoy great food paired with a lovely atmosphere.
