We went to Santo mezcal for dinner around 7:30 and waited about 5 minutes for a table. They will start you off with delicious thin, crispy, salty tortilla chips and a delicious mole and tomato salsa We ordered the Ceviche Verde and Ribeye tacos. The Ceviche was amazing and presented beautifully. The ribeye taco tasted good but was a bit cumbersome to eat. I thought perhaps it needed more of an acidic bite from a sauce. However, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. The service was quick and polite, not overly friendly. Our waiter did give a great recommendation on the Ceviche Verde when asked.I should add, the one negative I found during our meal is we were very close to other diners. It didn't bother us much but if you value privacy and don't want others to easily hear your conversations, you may want to eat somewhere else
We had a late mid-week lunch at Santo Mezcal and the outdoor and indoor dinning was almost full. The restaurant offers an upscales Mexican restaurant vibe. Our servers were quick, polite and helpful. I had the delicious but very rich seafood enchiladas. They were packed with tasty shrimp. We both enjoyed our lunch but at around $50 total this place is not cheap. Santo Mezcal is a must return for us, if we can get in. Weekend tourists plan ahead.
Food and drinks were delicious! Try the steak tacos - they were fantastic! Service was quick and friendly. Fun atmosphere.
We came for happy hour- all was great! Mexican food is well prepared here and the drinks we ordered were both amazing. The service is also nice! It’s not as big as other restaurants/bars nearby, but the vibe really makes it stand out! Will def come back for more’ we love it!!
Outstanding, higher end mexican. Their salsa and chips were some of the best we have had. Pablano mole was fantastic. Outstanding food all around. Only complaint is the margaritas, while good, were too small for the money
We called ahead to see if the restaurant takes reservations, they do not.We came at 7:44pm, the hostess said it would be 10 min, took our phone number and said we’ll receive a text.We did not receive a text but walked up to the hostess at 7:54pm to double check if it was our turn. She said that there was another party ahead of us and that it should be no more than another 10 minutes. We stayed close by in her vicinity, just in case.At 8:20pm - half an hour later - I walked up to her again to see if it was our turn yet. She said: “well, we texted you two times and you haven’t responded”. I was a bit taken back by this and mentioned to her that we literally stood two feet away from her all this time.As it turned out, she added the wrong area code, so we never received the text.I’m a little frustrated by the quality of the customer service , especially when hostesses and waitresses usually have a good face memory. All she had to do is literally call the name or take one step over to us. I’m including a photo to show how close we were standing. After we were finally seated at 8:40pm (an hour later, not 10 min later, and this was on a Monday night!) we inhaled our food, that was actually pretty good. I wish I wasn’t this hungry, so I could actually savor the food. The drink I ordered was overly sweet to the point of being unbearable. The ratio of alcohol and mix was off, in my opinion.Out of everything: ambiance, food, drinks, service…the only thing we liked was the food.
Food was delicious. You'll have to order extra tortillas for the queso fundido because it only comes with 3. The purpose was tender and delicious.
We visited on a Sat night so it was a busy place. We scored a table outside. Like most restaurants on State Street, the tables are close, but the wait staff is nice and the food was fresh. It is a little pricey, but again, it is SB, so it is in line with other restaurants on State St. Margaritas were good. Not awesome, but good. I think most will find the food tasty and fresh.
We’re in Downtown Santa Barbara and went to this quaint little restaurant for breakfast It turned out to be fantastic Omelet with assorted fresh vegetables potato pieces, yams and corn, and zucchini blossoms.Served with the freshest fruit and slight heat Truly was memorable Clean small and delicious
This place was recommended by a friend. The noise level was unbearable. Food was average, at best. There are too many good places to eat in Santa Barbara besides this joint.
