Food and service are always great, but watch out for the Margaritas. I am a lightweight, but after one margarita with lunch I have to walk around down town for an hour before I can drive home.

I have been going here for years and have mostly enjoyed the experience. Since the pandemic, I have not been able to go in person because of health vulnerabilities that make it too risky, but I have been ordering from them regularly to "support local restaurants" even though it is not cheap to order through one of the delivery services. In the beginning, the food, though always expensive, held up to in-person standards. That has changed until this last time, I actually feel like I was being deliberately insulted. This is how they advertise their shrimp taco: "grilled Mexican white wild shrimp tacos served with roasted tomato-jalapeño salsa, crema roja, pico de gallo and finely shredded cabbage seasoned with fresh lime juice and avocado slice" I do not like heat or raw onions, so I asked them to hold the salsa and pico. In person and in the past, I got exactly what I ordered including the crema, the cabbage, the avocado, the lime, and perfectly cooked shrimp. The last two times, it came without the crema so it was dry but I figured, hey, anyone can have a bad day or they just forgot this one thing. The picture shows what I got this time. 3 over-grilled, dry shrimp on a tortilla. For $9.75 plus tax and fees. No restaurant that cares about its food would EVER send something like that out of its kitchen! Even if it is through a delivery service to someone who cannot complain. It is downright DISRESPECTFUL to your customer. They might not know that I am a long-term customer who has supported them for the last 20+ years but that shouldn't matter. I also ordered the crab quesadilla and for the third time, it had shells in it. Again, this cost $19 and it is not a pleasant dining experience to have to stop mid-chew and try to spit out shell pieces. They also added bell peppers to it for some unknown reason even though, again, it is not in the description from their own menu. I get the impression that because it is delivery and thus, there are no consequences to serving bad food (and not what their own menu promises), they just don't care. I am giving them 2 stars only because the vegetable burrito was as ordered and good. After these last few bad experiences and especially this last downright insulting one where I literally felt liked I was robbed, it will likely be a long time before I order from this restaurant again. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in town and no doubt, there is one out there that does not insult its customers and delivers what its menu promises.

We were seated outside at a table with our 8 family members. The staff was attentive and provided excellent service. We had a few appetizers along with the complementary chips and awesome salsa! All were great. The menu had a nice variety. I had the Tacos de Pescado (halibut fish tacos) which were fresh, tasty, and excellent. Everyone else tried something different and all enjoyed their dinner. The had the area heaters available and when asked, turned them on to remove the evening chill. One of our family members had a birthday, so they brought out a small flan "cake" and sang the happy birthday song. Over all, a really nice dinner. Oh, I almost forgot, I got United MileagePlus dining mileage bonus for using my United branded credit card... a pleasant surprise and bonus!! I'll be back next time I'm in town.

One of my top 2 favorite Mexican spots in SB. Tasty, affordable, friendly. Get a table on the porch and you’ll feel like you’re at someone’s house. Good margaritas too

Honestly, I only go here because my better half insists on doing dinners here with her friends. And quite frankly, I'm never really happy anywhere we go! But this place is ehhhh..... I mean they served a tostada salad on iceberg lettuce for God's sake (just no, and WHY?) I WILL SAY THOUGH, I LIKE THEIR STAFF BETTER THAN THEIR FOOD. And that rarely is ever the case!

Margaritas are excellent and have lots of unique flavor options. Friendly staff and good food.

Amazing place in a great setting. Makes you feel like you’re on holiday. We had chicken fajitas which were super fresh and sizzling hot. Margaritas were great too. Free nachos and salsa are a great touch too.

S.B. is our hometown, but we moved almost 7 years ago. Every time we make a trip back, we hit up La Playa Azul! It is our absolute favorite! I love the Hibiscus margarita! The food is so fresh and prepared in a way that emphasizes the quality! We can’t wait until our next trip to come back!!

Good food and drink! Outside seating was a little funky as we sat under some plants very close to our heads. Great before a show at the Lobero theater.

Good food. Nice restaurant space and location. Would come again. Better than average.
