This restaurant was recommended by our nearby B&B and we really enjoyed it. The restaurant is on State Street which is a long road full of lovely looking restaurants. We hadn't made a reservation and the place was very busy when we arrived however they were able to find us a table for two. The service was brilliant and our server was so lovely and friendly. When we placed our steak order, she told us it was her favourite but that she usually has it with pasta. She was happy to let us change around the sides if we wanted to but we stuck with what was on the menu. It was really nice to have that option though if we'd wanted something slightly different with the steak. The food itself was delicious and was one of the nicest bits of steak we've eaten in a long time. We were so full that we were only able to share a pudding (also delicious)! Jane's was a really great place to visit and if we'd had more time we would've happily eaten there again.

Jane was recommended to us as a favorite for locals by a staff member at the Inn we stayed at and it did not disappoint. Jane's location on State Street was very convenient. The restaurant has a somewhat rustic appearance which might cause some concern, but as the saying goes, you can't tell a book by its cover. Our dinner was excellent. We started by sharing the whole roasted artichoke, which was tender and definitely tasted of the lemon garlic aioli sauce preparation. My wife chose the chicken piccata, which was tasty and also very moist and tender, and her request for extra vegetables instead of pasta was easily accommodated. I ordered the fresh fish and shellfish stew with tomato, potato, ginger, jalapeño in a coconut cream sauce. There were ample chunks of salmon, seabass plus shrimp and small clams and the dish was outstanding. For dessert, we ordered the delicious and creamy cheesecake to share which was cut in half and served separately to each of us. Our waiter was friendly and attentive but not overbearing. We are pleased to recommend Jane and look forward to returning when we're back in Santa Barbara.

A Santa Barbara favorite! Family owned at both locations the food is absolutely wonderful. Mark and Margaret do a great job! The chicken piccata was the best I've ever had, the service was impeccable, the inside environment is very tasteful, not overdone but very attractive. Don't forget to try the signature coconut chiffon cake.

We wanted to enjoy a nice lunch here this week after walking the city. Based on the recommendations from TripAdvisor and the open hours posted on TripAdvisor. Doors were closed and opening hours on the door was only for dinner.

My wife and I first dined at Jane back in Nov. 2021. We both loved the food and ambience so much that we ended up having our wedding reception there last month (March 2022). We reached out to the event coordinator, Meagan, who helped us reserve the upstairs mezzanine and balcony area for our big day. She was very responsive to emails, ensured out needs were met and made the whole process very seamless. She also provided us a recommendation for a local florist, Alicia, who did a fantastic job with the flower arrangements and tablet setup. The restaurant was perfect for hosting our small, intimate wedding reception. The food at Jane was very delicious and all of our guest had a great time dining at Jane. The service was excellent. The staff there was very accommodating and ensure all of our needs were fulfilled. We went with the $70 preset dinner menu with some minor alterations to a couple menu items. All the food came our cooked to perfection. They are also known for their coconut chiffon cake and just so happened it was also our wedding cake...delicious!!! We highly recommend dining at Jane for their food, friendly staff, great service and ambience.

This place is an absolute dream. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like, BUT you have to get the chicken piccata. I know it’s often left out of consideration when going to a place like this, but what a mistake! It’s absolutely the best I’ve ever had, maybe the best chicken dish I’ve ever had. The service and wine are impeccable. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. Can’t stop coming here and when I’m not at Jane, I’m dreaming of that piccata.

We were lucky to snag a table at the last minute. By the time we’d ordered our meals, all tables were full and the restaurant was buzzing. The ambience was hip and welcoming. Service was prompt, pleasant and professional. We’ve just spent two months in Wailea Maui eating at 5 star restaurants and this was by far the best meal we’ve eaten. Halibut and lamb.

Found this little gem, completely by luck. The restaurant does not disappoint! The ambiance inside looked great, though we chose to sit outside. Our server was attentive and accommodating. We started with onion soup, onion rings, fried brie and apple fritters, wedge salad. All were great. Soup was the best! Onion rings were flavorful but a bit oily.Main course across our group was veal, trout, fillet, burgers and lamb chop. Everything was excellent.. the trout and lamb chops were the favorites.Topped dinner with coconut chiffon cake which was a huuuuuge hit.All in all, two thumbs up!

I’ve never had a better steak in Santa Barbara. Me & my boyfriend came here for Valentine’s Day and had an incredible experience. Sam, our server was very attentive and we got our food in a somewhat timely manner. He had some great recommendations and I enjoyed a lovely filet mignon with a delicious sauce with veggies and potatoes, and my boyfriend got a very tasty chicken piccata. 10 out of 10 recommend, we will definitely be back soon! Recommend to anyone wanting some incredible cuisine.

Not going to run this place down because they were very friendly and accommodating but just not a lot of boldness to the food here. If you like flavors that play it safe, this is the place for you. I had the goat cheese pancakes and goat cheese is very distinctive but I couldn't really taste it. Chicken curry was also middle of the road. The chutney had only the smallest of spice. My wife said the same thing about her Bolognese. Perhaps our palettes are not sensitive enough for the subtlety. Dessert was very good chocolate marquise cake with raspberry sauce for my wife. I had the espresso.Anyway not saying the food was poor in any way, but I like to be challenged a little more when I eat out.
