Nice spot for some good BBQ. We had a few apps and the “Gotdamn Neanderthal” which said it comfortably feeds 2 people, but those two people are probably starving 300lb strongmen! Tons of food for 4 average, moderately hungry people.
Everything was great! We got a whole mixture of tri tip, baby back ribs, pulled pork/beef, and sides (baked beans, Mac and cheese and fries). Everything was good on its own, which is hard to do with the food and so many sides. Would highly recommend for BBQ!
A really cool family runs this new restaurant and they really deserve our support. I know how much love they have for their customers and their food, and it really shows with their smiles and servings. The Neanderthal plate is outta this world and a true meat lovers feast for the gods. Don't skip on one of the best BBQ places this little city has to offer!
It's pretty good, I had the tri-tip and the barbecued beans. I think I'm used to paying less for this kind of food, when you get the combo it comes with a salad but I would rather pay a little less and get no salad with maybe larger sides. This is Santa Barbara though and it's on State Street so that probably has a major effect on the price.
It’s ok bbq. Nothing special here. BBQ sauce is really different. I’m sure the over head is a huge expense. This place is really big and on state st. I wish them good luck with there new business. It’s tuff to make any money in Santa Barbara especially having a huge retail location. Landlords here in Santa Barbara ask for top dollar.
We finally have good barbecue in Santa Barbara!Tried their biggest platter to taste it all and everything was excellent including the sides and dessert. Will absolutely become a regular here.
I should have listened to my gut feeling when I walked in. When I got there the people behind the counter were having a conversation and took them a while to greet me. I ordered my food and the price was $16.99 and then it jumped to $19.99 because he claimed that there is a service charge for takeout ($3.00) ended up paying over $22.00. I ordered potato salad and after 15 minutes of waiting he came by and said that there was no potato salad. I waited another 15-20 minutes for my food. Total wait time was over 30 minutes for to go (understandable, if they were busy but there was only two tables in the entire restaurant). Some guy that looked like he could’ve been the cook kept going out with a box of cigarettes to smoke (maybe that’s why it took for ever). I got home and my salad was missing. That’s it, not going back and not recommending. It’s too bad because it would be nice to have a decent barbecue place downtown.
They have a set schedule but never follow, always have random events going on. Not updated on their website. Call before going to save yourself a drive, if they answer.Note ive tried going multipile times, maybe bad timing?
This place is amazing. So far I have eaten there twice in less than one week. As of this writing they have only been open for a few weeks so everybody is still fairly new but very friendly. I am sure as time goes on they will be adding a few more classics (Didn't see any beef ribs).Additionally I found the portions more than generous and quite affordable. Told all of my friends about the place. Took some pictures of our Sunday Brunch meal.
Pretty good BBQ. Not smokey, pulled pork was great, not over powered by the Carolina sauce. You really tasted the meat!
