Authentic taqueria. Great food and good prices. Parking is precarious as the location is under an over pass but it's worth it.
Best Mexican stop, ever. Cheap, and very authentic food.
I ordered some veggie nachos, I’m not sure if they don’t know how to make those or many don’t usually order that but I payed 20+ dollars for a plate of tortilla chips with cheese and about 5 jalapeño slices LOL I do not recommend, no lo recomiendo
Great Mexican food, fast service
Best taqueria in Marin, bar none. Huge menu, tons of variety and house specialties (try the agua frescas) and open later than other places in the area.
Traditional food is excellent and consistent. Fast and friendly service. For some reason the nachos are made 'ballpark style' with spicy cheese sauce instead of real cheese. Everything else is great, you won't be disappointed.
Al Pastor tacos are the best, put some green salsa on top too. Chips are fresh. I had an enchilada once as well which was great, but the al pastor tacos are what I always come for, probably the best tacos I've ever had. Building is a little grimy but not that bad, definitely a hole in the wall type restaurant but delicious food.
Unfortunately not good.Server forgot my beer and added ice to our horchata when I asked them not to.Our nachos has the gross fake nacho cheese you'd find in a movie theater, and then guacamole was grey. Our burrito was oddly cold and had minimal flavor. The chips were of the stale grocery store variety. The bathroom smelled like it hadn't been cleaned in some time.Alas! We had high hopes.
I've loved the food at Taqueria San Jose since they opened in the 90s and have been a loyal customer without fail since then. It's one of the best taquerias anywhere, period. Or, at least, it was...However, during my last visit just after Christmas, the staff was far less than friendly and half of the folks behind the counter were not wearing masks! This is in spite of a legal mask mandate for businesses like this.Even without a mandate, people preparing food without masks right now is a clear indicator that the restaurant staff does not care about its customers. They will wear a hair net, but not a mask!?! This makes me wonder how safe their food handling really is (and I have gotten food poisoning from TSJ a few times in the past, but that never stopped me returning before!).Food safety should be a top priority at any restaurant, but it is apparently at the bottom of the list for Taqueria San Jose these days. And there was a manager right there (wearing a mask, at least) who did nothing to correct the health violation. This is shameful and sad.I really hope the TSJ owners get a grip on reality and transition back to running their restaurant responsibly before the health department shuts them down for unforgivable violations that risk their customers lives and the health of the community that made them rich.I will go back eventually, because this restaurant means a lot to me, but if I see one employee not wearing a mask next time when there's a mandate in place, I will be taking photos and reporting them immediately. That will make me really sad, but if the owners can't do the right thing, somebody has to.
Great spot, good food, friendly staff, and that red salsa you get with the chips...bomb! Although, I have to say Puentez Taqeria has the best burrito in town...truth.
