Can't go wrong. Great drinks and food. Highly recommend eating here.

We were so looking forward to dining here. We have hearsay fantastic reviews, but unfortunately J.Tranis’s didn’t live up to the hype.I don’t get how an Italian restaurant serves Asian inspired preparation of dishes?Menu was quite limited, and I wasn’t really exited about much on the menu.It was Friday the 25th of Feb. and we were celebrating a birthday. The place was packed, we had reservations, yet were made to wait in the drafty waiting hall, while our table was set and ready??.?Once seated we ordered drinks. Appetizers and dinner were ordered at the same time.It was over an hour before we received the 2 appetizers. The waitress came by and apologized for the wait, but pretty lame .Once finished w/ appetizers, it took another hour to get meals. We had to ask for water, 3 times I asked for cheese and Chili’s for the pizza , didn’t get until the last 1/2 piece of pizza remaining. Finally the meals arrived. Fish dishes were very good, pastas not so much. The seafood pasta had zero shellfish, it only had salmon, a white fish and a couple shrimp. Sauce was heavy, not one of the better preparations. The Black Truffle Carbonara was overpowered by truffle, so not like any carbonara we have ever had, and we’ve had many in Italy. The breads were ok, the crusty variety was fine, but I don’t get jalapeño cheese bread in an Italian restaurant. As mentioned, it was a chilly evening and the door was open so servers could serve the outside customers. Unfortunately the wind blew straight to our table. Asked if it could be partially closed, was told had to be kept open for serving? So then don’t seat people in direct line of chill.Overall an o.k. Dinner, but close to $300 later, I would of maybe appreciated and offer of a complimentary drink or something to to soften the long, long, long wait we experienced .Hope they figure out menu, and staffing, and the concept of goodwill. Waiting for over two hours for a meal is a bit silly.

Food was amazing! Still thinking about it! Decor is simple friendly old world Villa style. But still—- food and drinks were the star of the show!i

The hostesses seemed disheveled and overwhelmed . Possibly because of a big group in front of us. We had a reservation at 6:30pm.The food was good. The seafood pasta needed a little more salt. The server was good. Didn't visit the table often enough though.I ordered Gelato they came back and said they didn't have the flavor I wanted so I chose a different flavor. The desserts came except mine. I sat at the table with my husband and friend while they ate their dessert, waiting for someone to come by the table with mine. 20 minutes passed , server never checked back and nobody else ever came to the table so I gave up. I got the hint, they were too busy with other tables. Towards the end we had to flag someone down for water we were so thirsty. Finally the server came and gave us some water. Had to flag him down again for more. Not sure why he didn't just leave the bottle at the table like they did for the other tables around us in the first place...Anyway,We got the bill and of course the dessert was on there that I never received. We let the server know and he took it off. So that was nice of them to do.Good food, could use some extra help on busy Friday nights.

Food was good service was good unfortunately they've forgot to bring one of the three desserts and no one follow up and it was on the bill.

First place I ate when I moved to San Pedro/Palos verdes in '79/'80 on new years

The food here was excellent. Unique dishes and the flavors were on point.

Noe, our server is the best. Very good food and other employees are so nice.

This review is for take out - my advice is to try to get wait staff to get your to go orders, avoid relying on the host/ess! Love Trani’s food, and we’ve usually had impeccable service. But the last 2 times we have ordered take out we have been told the time it would be ready (usually 45-1hr, which I’m fine with) but when we arrive it is incredibly another 30mins to an hour wait! This last time I decided to be very proactive and discovered the problem - the hostess left her podium telling me and another to go order person she would check on our order. After almost 10 mins I noticed her standing at a large party’s table chatting up each of the guests - we to go order people were completely forgotten. I literally never saw her again. After asking 3 servers to check on my order, the first one came out with it, relief. However, they had forgotten the bread we had specifically asked for! 25 mins after arriving, I got on my way! The other to go order? He didn’t say a word to anyone, maybe he’s still there now, waiting. Bottom line - don’t rely on the hostess to get your to go order, ask the staff, they are much more helpful and won’t forget about you. The food is terrific.
