The food is still good quality but they don't give as many side dishes as before. Couple that with a change in their pricing policy (used to not have to tip), this is way too expensive for what it is.
Yayoi has one of the best Tonkatsu ramen that I had In a long time. The broth was really full flavored and porky. The salmon shashi I had way fresh and tasty. When I'm in San Mateo this is a spot to consider.
I really like the palolato one ( few years ago)Got their chicken nanban ( my fav)todayPortion is big, but chicken fried too muchNanban sauce also not enough
4/2022-Food is amazing but prices have gone up including tips are now expected. 2/2020-They really exceeded my expectations! They're really authentic including the taste. The samples of tea were really appreciated and we even up ordering the hojicha (roasted green tea) which came with a free order of matcha warabi mochi ($5 value lined time) which both were very delicious! We also ordered the tonkatsu set ($20) and was excellent! Really appreciated all the little details like the metal rack the tonkatsu rested to maintain crispiness. The rice and red seasoning was very good. All this is confirmed from a native Japanese person. Highly recommended and we'll be back to try additional meals.PS. There's a no tipping policy just like in Japan! ???☺️
Located In Hillsboro Shopping, this is an authentic Japanese restaurant, featuring fantastic teishoku dinners! Fully electronic ordering, robot delivery to your table, and no tipping payment(card only).I highly recommend their Yayoi Gozen teishoku: sampler of their best items, beef sukiyaki, salmon with mushrooms miso soup, and salmon salad.Omaze Don: mountain yam, natto, salmon sashimi, pickled vegetables, mix with shoyu and enjoy over rice!Be sure to order their chawan mushi, steamed eggs, chicken, crab or ikura.I also love their small bites, which are small sushi hand rolls.
Very spaced out, clean, felt safe dining inGood food, well presented and excellent service in addition to having a robot deliver stuff
Worst Ramen I've ever had in my life, even compared to the 18 cent ramen packages I used to eat in college.Cool robot though.
Before when tipping was included in the price, it was sort of worth it.Now that they ask for tip on top of the original price, it is certainly overpriced :(
The robot server can only bring out food for one person at a time, so be prepared to wait for a solid 30-60 minutes *after you order* to get any food, and it will almost certainly be in the "barely acceptable" level of warm when it does finally come out. They also changed their policy to request tips after all, meaning a ~20% raise, for what is frankly pretty bad service (the people there are trying, but there's 2 of them for the whole place, since the robot in theory handles serving, but it doesn't, really). That makes it come out pretty overpriced for what you get.The food was pretty tasty, but the extreme wait, cold udon, and dumb robot gimmick, on top of the surprise 20% extra price mean I'm not coming back.
Good is pretty good. There were a couple of small problems though: salad had rotten pieces in it and half of a piece of the katsu was just tendon ... Not edible.Gozen is fun way to sample everything. The robot that served the food is cool!
