Diane, Tokie’s special, and Ronnie are definitely my favs at this restaurant. With some garlic edamame and flavorful miso with noodles, you can’t go wrong. Really nice workers too who stated they would still seat us though they were technically going to be closing in 45 mins. Great service, atmosphere and food!
Always delicious! Their salmon sashimi is my favorite: good price, large pieces and super fresh everytime! Another favorite is the tofu steak: three flavors with the broth onion and mushroom are unlike anything I've had before, so savory and yummy!! Great service and food everytime we go. This is our go to sushi place!
Clean bathrooms..Food is good and clean atmosphere.. had tv at bar with the basketball game on for sports fans..
since the 80s this restaurant has been my mother's favorite ... and still is mine
Best sushi place in San Mateo. Recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. The fish was fresh and delicious.
FRESH and delicious sushi. I am very particular about the quality of fish I am served while eating sushi and this place has been consistently good. The cherry on top is the amazing family that runs the restaurant. They are so kind and helpful. Highly recommend!!!
Hi Victor, and the entire staff at Tokie’s,As we enter the third year of this challenging pandemic, we miss you guys and gals so much. We are still hoping that Victor will retire in Costa Rica, near our town so that we may once again, sit at the sushi bar and eat the most wonderful creations with the best fish and the kindest people. We send you hugs and love, and when we travel again to San Mateo, Tokie’s is on our agenda. Best wishes, DuCharme and Mr. Bennett (AKA Bill)
I've been going to Tokies since the 80's when they were in Charter Square in Foster City. It was always a great time with great food. Tokies Downtown has upped their game with a great bar and bartender! Same really good food but now there's a bar where you can sit and enjoy drinks and your meal. Definitely recommend their sashimi. ???????
It was ok. I think I had much higher expectations and was comparing it to higher end sushi places. With sushi you get what you pay for.If you want sushi and can spend more - then pick a nicer place. If you are on a budget (50 per person) then go here.
The food was great and the staff was vere attentiveWe got a couple of varieties of sushi and some tempura. Both were amazing. The portions were generous with plenty to share with the three of us.
