Boat noodles. The only two words you need to know to be totally converted to this place. I've tried a lot of restaurants take of the beloved boat noodle, and Hoy-Ka's is by far my favorite.Unique atmosphere. RoomyFor such a hip spot in Hollywood, prices are cheap and affordable

Just tried this restaurant out tonight as it replaced one previously there and I was hoping it might be a good replacement. Overall, this is a decent, but not great restaurant. The indoor and outdoor seating areas are nice and the service is good. We had vegetable rolls, mango salad, Pad Se Ew, and pumpkin curry with duck - most of this was good, but not the best I've eaten with the exception of the pumpkin curry. The pumpkin curry was not well prepared - the curry sauce was very tasty, but the ingrediants tasted like they were just tossed at the last minute and the pumpkin and vegetables were almost raw. Unfortunately, this restaurant seems to be following a lot of Thai restaurants that give you any meat/tofu you want with any dish - this seems like a good idea, but for dishes like the pumpkin curry that benefit from slower cooking, this does not work at all.

Great food, we ordered the seafood fried rice and pad thai both tasted good. It is centrally located so parking is a bit tough. Pan is an amazing hardworking woman who made our experience better.

Great food at good prices. Nice sized outdoor and indoor eating spaces. Staff was very responsive and helpful. Food came out fast and was well prepared. Pad Ke Mao was my favorite dish of our 5 plate family style lunch; noodles perfectly cooked, not all stuck to each other, vegetables were fresh and the chicken was perfectly browned.

Great food at a reasonable price in San Mateo downtown.

Great, authentic Thai food. Hard to find khao soi in the US, much less this good!

Subpar service. Pad thai bland, tasteless and sticky. Quick service, more like fast food than restaurant quality.. Outdoor seating area gets hot. No breeze and no fans.

Great service. Tasty food at reasonable prices. Good options for vegetarians (All the curries have a vegetarian base)

Great experience! We went on a weeknight and it wasn’t too busy. The staff were so nice and the decor was so interesting! But honestly, the food stole the show! We got the Pad Thonglor and the Wonton Soup and both were simply delicious!Ps the bathroom is in the back and it seems sketchy to go back there because there is a dishwashing area back there behind a door, but honestly it’s not hard to find and is kept really clean.

The only place you can get Khao Soy in San Mateo.
