Flew into SFO, after a 6 hour flight from Toronto, thought I would try out a local Mediterranean spot. I ordered the Chicken and Beef gyro, food was cold and the quality the beef and chicken gyro wasn’t very good. Only got through half the plate.
$10 for a mix beef and chicken gyro. Tasted pretty good too especially with this packaged white sauce but the hot sauce was fire! Service was nice and they even offered a cup for water without even asking. Unfortunately, got a stomach ache later from something.
Not as good as when they first opened.Staff raised his voice when my husband forgot to finish transaction after swiping his card - “hey, tips! *while pointing to the credit card machine”. Very rude and unpleasant staff.
We always have great experiences here. I usually order online and pick up, they always prepare it right as I'm picking up so it's very fresh. The last time we went in person to order, the gentleman at the counter was awesome, helped us with our rewards point issue and was super personable. My boyfriend always loves the food here and he's on a no carb diet, so he loves that he can do all greens instead of rice and that the portions are hefty & filling He's very picky on places where he'll spend his money and having spoken to the employees here, he is willing to support them.
The Halal Guys is the McDonald’s of Arab food. I was very disappointed because I had heard the history of Halal Guys and the long lines of people lured to buy food from them in NYC. And after traveling through the Middle East and enjoying other similar cuisine in the Bay Area, my expectations were misplaced here. The food tasted very processed and bland, served lukewarm, especially the falafel. Not to mention, this San Mateo locale plays the loudest, obnoxious music on a sound system with bad acoustics that disturbs your dining and auditory senses. I completely don’t recommend The Halal Guys. If you want this type of cuisine, look elsewhere.
Flavor and quality has really gone downhill. Rice was hard and flavorless, falafel was crispy but nothing to it otherwise. Really nothing special especially for the price.
Guys, this is not good food. Not to mention they got our order wrong. We ordered a combo and received chicken. I know The Halal Guys, I grew up in NYC. This is not it.
They are so kind! I placed an order in the same restaurant, wrong address. They where super open to help me find a solution and helped me out with my order.
I’ve had this for the first time and it was delivered to me last night. My brother put me on. I gotta say it was great and it’s flavor was on point. That White sauce is the cherry on top! One take away is the hot sauce that comes with your meal is not hot enough. ? It took a long minute to get my meal but, it was worth the wait and I have to say. I tore it up! I don’t eat much and the portion is more than enough to feed two hungry men. I ate it all!!! Half way through, I nuked It in the microwave drenched in white sauce haha. Thanks! That was fulfilling.
Good test, like the chicken plate, great portion of both plate and sandwich
