Below average drinks…not tasty. Slow service. The fish was dead in the fish tank displayed! How awful to look at at the bar. Will not return.
Overall, it was meh. Unremarkable. Underwhelming. Slow service. More juice than alcohol in their cocktails. Really just meh.
I've been here before, but never noticed the bar in the back. A great place to kick back and enjoy a drink.
Great cocktails. The inside gets crowded but the outside patio of curry up now is normally empty.

Mortar & Pestle is an experience every one deserves. Elliott was phenomenal and worth his weight in gold: and more! This little gem located around a West Downtown San Mateo is in the same building section as "Curry Up Now" - serving fan-tabulous Indian fare. A shared dish of: tikka chicken masala, stories to accompany the time shared together...all we can say is thank you Elliott for sharing your giddiness for life, your wonder for the world's and for sharing in this life experiences with the likes of us!This is a definite: "must stop"while in San Mateo! What an amazing evening and experience!
Love this place. The drinks are awesome and delicious the bartenders take their time making your drink and the food from the sister restaurant Curry Up Now is delicious. Get some appetizers and you won't be disappointed.
