Delicious food and at such a great price! It has been so long since I've had tofu Chow mein this good. My fiance got the honey Walmart shrimp and it was delicious. Staff was so friendly and I saw our waitress being so kind and helpful to the table over that had a child struggling to choose what to order. If I lived in San Mateo this would definitely be my go-to but for now it will just have to be a place I visit when I'm in town. I hope to return soon!
My family gets food from Hot Wok all the time. It’s our go to restaurant for Chinese food. We have even ordered Hot Wok for teacher appreciation day as well as brought it in for clients. Everyone always wants to know where the food is from, it’s that good. The Kung pow chicken is amazing, but you won’t go wrong with any dish.
I asked for shrimp fried rice and chow mein with no soy sauce. I was told it was already made so I had to eat it like that. I said I dont mind paying extra so why can't I have food my way. They seemed short and rude. Food was very plain and cold. I had an uncomfortable eating experience. Been there many times and I loved this place but my experience was so bad I won't be coming back.
1st Time: Staff was Friendly and Welcoming. Ordering was Easy. Food came out Quick, still Hot when Served it Back Home. Very Delicious, worth it's Price. We Coming Back.
Bad experience, food was cold and didn't seem fresh. The taste was good but to much soy sauce for my taste. I ordered fried rice with broccoli beef and chicken Kung pao. Servers were hard to understand and didn't get my order right.
We ordered delivery and got our food very quick. The bag was super hot and I had high hopes but unfortunately when eating I noticed a lot of the meat and vegetables were cold in the middle. This made me wonder if the food was just being reheated instead of cooked when ordered. The portion size was pretty big. We order the chicken corn soup which was very tasty. The beef chow main was good but this had many cold pieces of meat. The chicken fried rice was very bland. The string beans were also cold in the middle. The honey walnut shrimp was soggy, and lastly the Mongolian beef was a bit tough and also cold in the middle. I don’t know if this restaurant is better to eat while dining in but I was pretty disappointed on my takeout order with how expensive everything was.
best Chinese food I every tried in my life 5 stars would come back again
My wife and I used to visit Hot Wok Bistro pretty often when we lived in the neighborhood. Tonight we decided to visit because we were in the area and we wanted something to remind us of all the years we've spent together. Eating at Hot Wok Bistro is like coming home. The food is wholesome and homemade. Everything tastes exactly as you imagine it should. We had the wonton soup, combination chow fun, black bean chicken, and honey walnut shrimp and all of them tasted like a memory of the first time eating those dishes. I don't know when we're going to be in the area of Hot Wok Bistro again but every time I think about it there I'll think about getting everything you hoped for and nothing more or less.
Hit the spot! Craving satisfied! My fiance said the tan tan noodle was one of the best that she's had in America!
