Dinner buffet inside hotel lobby.Pro: flat bread pizza & chicken pasta was tasty, staff bring you refills on soda.Con: $32/person, have to pay to park at hotel about $30/day.

We stayed for a few nights for a wedding in one of the 2 queen, 1 bedroom, sofa bed suites. Both the bedroom and the lounge room with the sofa bed are quite large. The lounge area of the room feels like a lot of wasted space as it feels like there should be a coffee table of some sort in the middle as it is pictured in the hotel photos but there is nothing besides a big pinkish stain in the carpet. There also appeared to be a quarter size blood stain on a couch cushion as well as both sides of our couch were broken. For some reason the side of our couch without a back also wouldn't sit flat so it made the couch even more uncomfortable. The beds were comfortable and the pocket door lets you separate the two rooms for more privacy if you have someone sleeping on the sofa bed. Difficult to reach someone when you press the "At Your Service" button to reach someone. It rang to the point where I received the busy signal. I tried one day and had to call back twice. The second time I called, I never was able to reach someone after trying for over 15 minutes. The bathroom seems nice at a first glance but the shower pressure isn't great and there is clearly mold growing on the silicone around the tub as well as the seal between the wall and the spout is no longer sealed. I did notice a sewer smell from the sink so it appears that the piping isn't vented properly (pretty disgusting). Parking was the one plus, although you have to pay for it, there were ample parking spaces even with the hotel being pretty busy. Not sure I would stay here again.

I am totally disappointed to find out after inquiring from the Front Desk that house keeping is now no longer available for stays less than 5 nights. This should not be acceptable by consumers nor be a standard for the hospitality industry - especially one from Marriott. No wonder Marriott reported 22% better earnings than 2021. I understand the challenges in finding staff but this should be temporary and clients should be offered a discount for no house keeping. How do you plan to maintain hygiene in the midst of Covid? This seems to be hypocritical. I hope Marriott will change the policy, Overall, it is a good stay - we love the Marriott here. Communication is lacking - according to one of the staff, this is due to high turnover. We checked in and was informed that Concierge is open from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm only to find out that it is opened from 6:00 am to 9:00 am. Small thing of such can be trained for the Front desk receptionist so clients are not being misinformed. Breakfast is nice - often finding the "Omelet station guy" MIA. Here is my 2 cents - I don't think the hotel should allowed people to dish out the food to go. There was a family that took everything out from the Buffett tray leaving nothing for the other guests - who have to wait 10 mins for the staff to refill. Perhaps, take out is ok but only the staff that can assist with packing the container. Just a thought.

The hotel is nice. It is in good shape and the accommodations are comfortable. The service leaves much to be desired. I understand that some of that results from the current employment challenges. However, not all issues can be attributed to that. For example, no one told me that housekeeping was only done on request. I had to wait two days to figure that out. The bathroom was roomy and comfortable. There was good water pressure and plenty of hot water. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

This property has recently been renovated and it's great. Tons of seating in the lobby/bar area to gather with friends and family. The bar staff is accomodating and welcoming, as is all of the staff we interacted with during our stay. Rooms are comfortable, well furnished, and have some of the largest bathrooms I've seen in a Marriott in a long time. Overall a great place to relax and is a quick drive to downtown San Mateo where you can find great restaurants and explore the park/gardens.

We stayed from 4/15/22-4/18/22. We chose to stay in this hotel because we like San Mateo. This is a quiet hotel, conveniently located by the freeway and near several shopping plazas. If you're staying with family on business, the location is perfect because there is a grocery store right in front of the hotel, and it's only a three minute drive from nice restaurants and a brewery. Although we didn't visit, I also know its very near a mall. The San Mateo Marriott San Francisco Airport is a huge hotel! It boasts many convention rooms and has plenty of rooms to match that. I think I got lost within my own room floor many times. Considering how large the hotel is, the lobby is rather small. But, I did like the contemporary design. They have a restaurant, which is only open for breakfast and a bar. They also have a cafe/convenience store, but it was only open once, due to low staffing. On the website, it states it was remodeled in 2019. This is reflected in the room and lobby decor, but there are several areas which show aging. This was most obvious in the low ceiling hallways and elevators. I would be lying if I said the elevators didn't make me nervous. As for the room itself, we stayed in a 2 queen room. The room was a standard Marriott sized room which comfortably fit 5 adults. There was small "foyer" by the bathroom and closet, which was the perfect place to set down our luggage. However, the reason why this review receives three stars is mainly because of the service at the reception desk, rather the lack of service. The woman who helped us at check-in, which was at round 2pm on 4/15/22, was not friendly at all. From the tone her voice to the look of her eyes, it seemed like she was annoyed to be there and certainly annoyed to help us with check-in. No smiling, no thank you, and definitely no "thank you for being a Bonvoy Elite member." The front desk, particularly during check-in, sets the tone for the rest of the stay and the image of the whole hotel. The man who was at the front desk early in the morning on 4/18/22 wasn't all that friendly either, but thankfully that interaction was much shorter. Overall the stay was decent. It is quite convenient and the rooms and lobby are refreshed with the new decor, and it is a good stay for families. Will we be staying again? Probably not. We are loyal to the Marriott brand and frequent San Francisco/the Bay Area, but we'll pass on this hotel. There are far better, more friendly hotels to stay at, which are equally nicely designed and located.

Just came to grab a drink at the bar. Great vibe and friendly bartender. Highly suggest the “None of Your Beeswax” cocktail (pictured).

I waited at SFO airport shuttle for 60+ minutes after an 11 hour flight. Nothing. The driver of another Marriott hotel shuttle said it didn’t run any more. I got a taxi. The Receptionist didn’t know or care about the shuttle. The non-existent shuttle is still advertised in the hotel information. Not good enough!

My husband and I renewed our wedding vows in the Courtyard outside of this hotel so it was nice to visit after 13 years. We stayed in the back rooms where this weird elevator was. It was noisy and was by itself behind a door which was odd. The room was spacious and clean. Unfortunately, there was a girls sport’s competition happening during our stay so there were girls screaming and running up and down the halls, playing in the gyms, in the pool and in the lobby so our relaxing staycation wasn’t very relaxing. I used the app for the first time but I only used it to communicate with the Front Desk but even that was difficult. The app doesn’t work for parking, so you still need to get a physical key. Breakfast was also annoying as we were waiting to be seated and some people just walked in and seated themselves and went to the buffet. No staff to help or apologize for the wait or lack of acknowledgment. I even made eye contact with the waitstaff and they chose to ignore us. Overall, I don’t think I’d come back. Hotel has sentimental value but that’s about it.

I reserved a suite with 2 queen beds and received an email confirmation. However, when I tried to check in, my reservation was downgraded to a room with 1 bed. Hotel staff insisted that they don't know what happened. They couldn't give the suite that paid for because they are sold out. First staff member who answered my call was extremely rude and asked me to accept what is available or cancel my reservation.
