A favorite indulgence... Always consistent and delicious! If you want really good food at a really good price, I definitely recommend Sammies!My bestie and I make the hour plus drive to San Marcos every couple of months to indulge our cravings. Our favorites: Grilled Chicken Balsamic Salad... this salad has layers of flavors and textures with it's crisp romaine lettuce, sliced warm and tender basil herbed chicken breast, gorgonzola and walnuts tossed in a creamy balsamic dressing. Next is their Chickpea Hummus served with warm crispy and chewy Pita... I also love the Babaganoosh and get a small side for dipping. Finally, their Crispy Brussel Sprouts are Drizzled with a balsamic vinegrette, shaved parmigiano and walnut halves. We occasionally overindulge and add in the Truffle Fries.All of this and a cocktail each is usually no more than $66.00 because most appetizers and house cocktails are half price during their daily Happy Hour from 3:00 - 6:00. Oh, nearly forgot.... today my son joined us and had the Spicy Italian Sausage Pizza, the Sweet and Spicy Thai Wings and a mojito. All were very good and from the Happy Hour Menu so we still made out for under $100.00. I don't know of another place where you can get good quality food and drinks at this price! I paid 25 bucks, after tax and tip, for meatloaf and a glass of water a few weeks ago and swore I was going to stop eating out! lol Thanks to Sammies, I can keep indulging!
My husband and I love coming here during their happy hour! Everyday between 3-6 they have half off cocktails and half off select menu items. We have come here quite a few times to enjoy some good food and read on their outside heated patio.
Great place, friendly staff, and delicious food -- but it doesn't stop there! Tonight the place (though short on staff) served graciously and attentively. Even under pressure, the team here was outstanding -- and Justin was particularly helpful and accommodating, even on short notice. We've enjoyed Sammy's in Carlsbad for years, and San Marcos truly understood excellent service and going above and beyond! We'll definitely return, whether it's on the outdoor patio, or inside. Very good service and delicious food. Josh was excellent and provided great service. I dont know what the chefs are doing back there but my guess is there are doing some magic stuff. DELICIOUS
Really disappointed. Especially because I was looking forward to the pizza. I place a pick up order, I arrived 5 minutes early. I go to check in at the bar and I’m told my order isn’t there and needed to wait to be helped. I waited for like 5 minutes. Only to see and hear my order wasn’t ready, which was fine. I didn’t mind the wait. What I did mind. Was being given another order that had sat there for grub hub to pick up. I asked how long it sat there. Was told 5 mins. I get to the car and nothing is even hot. Super upsetting because it was $50 for some mediocre food, and I was hungry.
Had to pick up my food. Waited 10 minutes just to get a pizza box handed to me. Could have been tasty if it hadn't gone cold while I was waiting.
Good food and friendly staff, my lamb chops were amazing! Was there for my son's birthday and they treated him to an apple pie pizza!
We have loved Sammy's in San Marcos for years. However, tonight our dinner was not good. My husband's pizza arrived about 15 minutes before my grilled shrimp salad.. The shrimp in my salad were awful yet I usually find them delicious...there was no seasoning on them this time. I have always gotten the shrimp salad because the shrimp are so beautifully seasoned. The waiter, while polite, was extremely inattentive while the waiter at a nearby table was very attentive to his table.I never intend to go back due to this bad experience.
Came here New Year’s Day, they had very slow service and explained they were short staffed. Food was mediocre .Overall it was just kinda “ehh”. Environment was very nice and clean. I understand the service being slow, it being New Year’s Day. Price didn’t match quantity or quality. Not impressed.
My group of friends goes to some congenial happy hour in and around San Marcos every Monday. We usually frequent one place for a month and move on. Sammy’s is one of our favorites. We keep coming back. The menu is varied, the food is good, the prices are great and the servers are friendly and accommodating. We were so pleased this evening we decided to extend our stay a few more weeks.
