My experience with the coffee shop was excellent until today. I ordered a Pour Over - San Diego and a C.H.E.B. Sandwich under the name Uriel as my breakfast. I arrived there at around 8:00 a.m. on June 19, 2022. Because I try to avoid the busy hour, and I like going for a walk after. I got my San Diego after about 10 mins waiting, which is normal. But for the sandwich, I waited for 1 HOUR! From 8 - 9 a.m.! I still DIDN'T GET my sandwich. So I asked one of the employees who was making coffee, but I didn't tell her I'd waited for 1 hour. Just in case she got nervous and messed up what she is doing because it reached the busy hour. Some customers who ordered after I started wondering what happened to their order. All they got is: "I don't know what happened back there." Which INFERS to it's not my business, I don't work back there. Of course, she uses the excuse of we are getting busy, the orders were stacking up.As a regular customer who goes to the coffee shop on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. When the manager is here and working in the back, everything is in order. He greets people and has some short chats. But this guy who works in the back today is unbelievably slow.

Thought I'd give it a second chance. The second time was worse. Hot vanilla latte with shot of vanilla wasn't even warm and no vanilla. Second attempt was warmer but no hint of vanilla....and no taste of good grind and tastes like water..$7+......great spot...about it.....not for coffee lovers

Staff was very sweet. I got a nitro cold brew and their breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was great!! Croissant was lovely. Loved the flavor combos of the tomatoes, cheese, seasonings, and mustard. Cant wait to try their crepes next.

Love HOB Coffee. We had been waiting for a coffee shop to open up here since the previous place closed early pandemic. My wife and I started going here right when they first opened and now we’re there about 3x/wk.After some (likely) COVID related turnover, their current staff is very good. Drinks come out consistent. Everyone is very friendly. The kitchen can handle modifications. Service is great. They wear masks when local mandates require it.Chelsea spontaneously remembered my name after a few days of making our drinks. Seemingly little things like this are actually huge. They make customers feel good and build BRAND LOYALTY. For me, service and customer experience is at least equally important to how the coffee tastes.I’m not sure what some other reviewers are talking about with training and systems because the current team has all this. Maybe sometimes you catch them when it’s busy or just on a tough day but I’ve been there about 100 times, I expect all a lot, and they almost always deliver. Treat them with gratitude and kindness and you’ll get great service in return.

Lucky for this place, it’s really the only convenient coffee shop, so people come. Very slow and poor customer service. I would suggest to whoever manages this location to train the employees:1. Always greet your customer. Don’t leave them standing at the counter ignored. If you are busy, you say “hi, I’ll be right with you”. Out of 4 people working 2 feet from me, no one did this.2. Train your employees how to use the coffee grinder. It shouldn’t be a mystery how to get a coarser or finer grind.3. Get some organization. I only ever get simple black coffees and it always takes a very long time because no one seems to have a designated position. Someone should always have a primary role at the register who can serve as a backup for drink making only when they have nobody to ring up.4. Move past the iced coffee and have a cold brew option. For a name like “House of Black Coffee”, there sure doesn’t seem to be a specialty of black coffee.5. Make sure your drip coffee is hot. I’ve come many times in the morning and it’s only warm.

This is a local and nice coffee spot. Good for a quick pick up of coffee. But never ever I would make a mistake again to order salad here. Wrinkled grape tomatoes along with a sour souse.. and deli turkey added as a protein. No, that was not ok. Coffee was good though. And the service was excellent!

Just went to Hob with my daughter to pick up coffee and breakfast. Love the avocado toast, Cheb sandwich and my kids went nuts for the Nutella crepe. Really impressed by the food and coffee from such a small place. Definitely coming back soon!

excellent service, coffee, and food! it’s so nice to have a coffee shop walking distance from my house that has great service and great goods. 10/10 would recommend this place

Love the commentary but you’ll need a few extra shots to taste the coffee itself for the drinks.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The coffee was bland, boring, not very impressive for the cost. I could barely taste the coffee itself, let alone the flavoring.
