I've also been to the South Park and Encinitas locations, but really love this new space in San Marcos. I've been making my way through the menu and have yet to be disappointed.Italy is far, but I've been fortunate enough to visit twice, and this place transports me back. If you want a taste of Rome, be sure to try their amatriciana, cacio e pepe, and carbonara. If you prefer Naples, they've got you covered with their pizza Napoletana. The Italian-born owner, along with several of the employees, have done all excellent job of bringing the best of several regions' cuisine to San Diego.Ask about their millefoglie for dessert. I've attached a picture of this heavenly combination of flaky pastry, cream, and strawberries. It's not to be missed! If you're still reading, I'll throw in a plug for a sister restaurant, Gelati e Peccati in North Park. It's a more casual place for gelato and pizza al taglio (by the slice) that I never expected to find outside of Rome.
Food was great. Had cioppino, was tasty, lots of seafood. Portion was plenty, took half of it home. Prices in line, food reasonable , my glass of wine was over $10 but that's fairly normal for an upscale restaurant. I have a hard time with that anywhere considering a bottle of the same wine at Costco is $15 or $20, whatever. We ordered dessert which, again was very good, but it took a long time to bring because they were understaffed for dessert chefs. Otherwise good experience, will go back
Went there for lunch on a Sunday. I've been in San Diego and Encinitas locations and this new location in San Marcos is excellent. Nice terrace and decor. Quiet street. Excellent service, menu with vegan and vegetarian options. Reasonable prices, good portions.
Fantastic food. Authentic Italian with something BFF for everyone in our multi-family party of 9. Servers are 100% awesome. Generous portions and reasonable prices. Highly recommend.
Nice surprise of a place. I was in town visiting a friend and this turned out to be a nice more upscale plaza with a few other places around. The area does give me upscale college vibes- more modern and stylized.Great pasta! They have a lot of options as well as an option for homemade egg noodles which is a personal favorite. There is a great ice cream shop across the street in the work share too to top off the night
Delicious! Friendly employees, excellent serivice!
I know there might be many reasons to choose this place for a lovely family gathering or to make it a pizza day with friends, i would just add here that now and forever my main reason to come to this amazing place is the desert! I don’t remember the name - its on the photo. OMG! It was so good! Fresh strawberries with fantastic custard and flaky puff pastry. So blessed to live not far from this amazing place to be able to enjoy it as much as I want. Thanks to Britney who was super nice and friendly!
The meals here are so Tasty and the Service is phenomenal, had Valentines Dinner and we are very happy
Great service, great food, love the atmosphere. Really cozy velvety chairs inside which matter as who wants to sit on a wood bench to eat a meal? I don’t eat nightshades so I asked them to make a zucchini, mushroom, onion pizza with pesto. Didn’t even skip a beat, they are very accommodating. Better pizza than my favorite restaurant.
I've had Buona Forchetta on my list to try for a while now. Finally made it in with the fam on New Year's Day. I made reservations on OpenTable and there was no issue. Buona Forchetta started back in 2011 in South Park and has since grown into a group of about six or so fine Italian restaurants throughout San Diego County. The location in San Marcos is interesting. Situated on the ground floor of a multi-story apartment building, all in a tree-lined town square type environment. It was a really nice setting. Parking was easy in the adjacent parking structure, it's a very short walk. Service from everyone we encountered was excellent! The staff were all so friendly and genuine. We really felt welcomed. Some of the furnishings inside seemed rather avant-garde.The food here is intriguing. I was impressed with their menu full of highly customizable pasta dishes, a vast array of pizzas, etc. There's even a daily special menu with a number of creative looking entrees. We started with an appetizer called "Pizza in a Glass". I had such high hopes for this one. I'm not gonna sugarcoat it though, it was terrible. Messy, hard to eat, not easily shareable and served stone cold. The fried dough nodules were roughly the size of a pinto bean or large polyp. This one should be a hard pass. The bread servcie was tasty, although sliced too thin and also served cold. Not impressed. Fortunately our mains were all very good. I had Bucatini Carbonara and the pasta was exquisite; cooked al dente. The carbonara was authentic, although could have used a little more moisture overall. I had a few bites of my sons lamb ragu pappardelle and it was outstanding. Very robust flavors.I highly recommend checking out any of their locations. Although no full bar, they do have an impressive wine and beer list. Buona Forchetta is a fun and unique place to visit that is not like many other restaurant experiences in SoCal.
