Shake Smart corporate is currently fighting to charge students with felony vandalism, which carries a prison sentence of up to three years, for stealing letters from their sign. Cal Poly's store is very profitable for the company and as a customer I am disgusted that they wish to take such brutal action against these students over letters. Theft should be addressed, but this is uncalled for. Otherwise, the smoothie bowls are fine, employees are lovely.
the taste of a nation. the blended bowls are kinda soupy, soupy tho
Oh Cal Poly, what are you doing with your life. This was like a 5/10. But thanks for having food within your zip code it helps sometimes
So many options and so delicious! Caution though: protein powder can taste weird if you've never tried it before.
Overall a great experience!
Good but overpriced. Drink a little too sugary
Healthy but expensive. Drinks are hit or miss.
I don't get Shake Smart very often because there is usually a line that is way too long. And actually, it's a little confusing because you make your order first on the iPad and then get in line to pay. I can see the benefits of this system but it was just a little confusing at first. I usually order an acai bowl because I think it is way more worth it than to order a smoothie and the bowls are usually a hit or miss. I have had an excellent pb&a and other times, I have had a very watery one. It really depends on the person making it and of course, you can't control that. I would come back if I was really feeling like an acai bowl and didn't want to drive off campus.
So it’s 8:45. We go to order our shakes.....all of the ordering iPads are inside, the lights are off, and the two workers are sitting on the freezer in the back. I ask if they’re open, they smirk and say “sorry, we’re closed.” I go online to look up the hours..... SHAKE SMART DOESN’T CLOSE TIL 9:30. Moral of the story: go to shake smart at least an hour before they close cuz that’s when their workers decide to quit.
When the consistency of their acai bowls is well-blended and firm they’re spectacular. The fruit is fresh and ripe, the toppings are made from quality ingredients, and taken together the flavors and textures complement each other perfectly. It’s a bowl of delightful deliciousness. However, I have been disappointed too many times by a runny, tasteless mess—as if a smoothie were left sitting on a hot dashboard. Why the inconsistency? They’re no longer a new shop, and I wish the kinks could’ve been worked out by now.
