Amazing from start to finish. Entire staff was friendly and accommodating. Glasses were always full, and empty plates never lingered for more than a minute or two. Props to the chef and kitchen crew for turning out beautiful meals for my wife and I. And major kudos to our server Brian for the flawless service. Looking forward to our next visit.
We hosted a dinner for 14 in the Wine Library at the Ox + Anchor on a busy Saturday night and it was fantastic, from the terrific food..thank you Chef Chef Ryan Fancher..to the wonderful wines..thank you Wine Director Patrick Holihan ...to the incredible service from Gabby and the team...you guys killed it! Highly recommended.
We went here to celebrate our anniversary. Our server was attentive and helpful. The Beet Salad looked like a work of art and was delicious. We ordered the Burger and Lobster Tail Gnocchi.Four stars because although the food was tasty and our server was fantastic, it felt overpriced.
Little slow to get started.. but once we ordered..they kept it all coming.. Large group w young children and tired people. Delicious tomatoe salad.. truffle fries, creamed spinach, Mac& cheese, duck, chicken and steaks. We had Tolosa wine ..a local fave .thank you for helping us have a great family dinner
Great spot in downtown slo. Staff were very helpful. Food was excellent. Get an early reservation and then hit the palm theater for a movie.
Tasty Tasty Tasty! Great meal had the Duck. My date had the scallops. Loved it. Great service by Alissa. Very good understanding of everything on the menu. Very attentive. Perfect pace for our meal.
Our party of 4 dined at the Ox + Anchor on 04/01/22 and, no joke, it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. Bruce, our waiter, was very welcoming and attentive. He knew the menu well, and was cheerful and enthusiastic when explaining or answering questions about the menu. We ordered the Oysters and Yellowfin Ahi Tuna Tartare, the Rib Eye, Pork Chops and Hanger Steak, roasted Asparagus and Potato purée. WOW!!! Everything was incredibly prepared, tasty and beautifully presented. Particularly incredible was the Pork Chops. Two of us ordered and we both agreed they were the best we’ve ever tasted. Bruce explained the preparation well, and as he described, they were moist, juicy, and finished to perfection. The Hanger Steak and Rib Eye were also exceptionally flavorful! For our sides, the potatoes were prepared using the true french technique: they were light, buttery, and melted on your tongue, and the asparagus were roasted to perfection. Various sauces were provided, and the vegetables were excellent with or without. We declined dessert being very satisfied, yet the waiter brought us a small treat to give just a little sweetness to the end of a remarkable meal. The Ox + Anchor delivers a dining experience that shouldn’t be missed, and should be experienced more than once!
Oh boy this place is expeennnsiiivvee. But all the food is also quite good. Service was exceptional, the cocktails reasonably priced and tasty. Sides are also pretty good for family style.I'm taking a star off because for a steakhouse with this ambiance, pricing, and service, not having every steak be Prime or better is preposterous. You should *NOT* be serving choice ribeyes for $70 with no sides.
Great food, beautiful wine list and excellent service
Our waiter Marcus was absolutely wonderful! He made great suggestions and the whole staff generally provided phenomenal service. Everyone was very warm and attentive. The food was impeccable. Generous portions and beautiful plating. The Yukon potatoes are otherworldly and the chicken (which Marcus suggested) was incredibly juicy and flavorful. For the top quality meal and service, I was shocked at how reasonable the bill was.We will certainly be coming back :)
