My partner and I went in there to get work done and order coffee. An employee was extremely rude to her. She asked for a straw since she has an invisible disability that prevents drinking straight from a cup. The employee was a dude and told us “We don’t do straws here. Get your own”. Understandable if that was the case, although the phrasing didn’t have to come across like that. I’ve been here before and I knew they did previously. She felt very unsafe there so I went over to ask, he completely blew me off for the whole time we were there. I asked another employee and she was super nice and informed us they were out. We just wanted to know what was going on. This was two weeks before both us and the public were aware of the allegations of the owner being a predator. The matcha was good but not worth the trouble. We have not been back since and honestly prefer skippers coffee better which is just down the street. Much friendlier. ??
We got the Garden Variety and Okinawa Tea, both were excellent and the staff are incredibly friendly and professional. Awesome vibe as well!

Had a great breakfast bowl with sausage. My wife had a latte. My coffee was really good and free refills. Recommend. Mostly locals.
I absolutely love Kin; both the Downtown and Taft St. locations. The staff is always nothing but kind. It is a safe-space for any and all. I can’t talk more highly about them; it has become my safe-space. Drinks are usually ~$5.50 and food is ~$9.50, but it is absolutely worth it.

It is very simple, has prices and descriptions of specialty drinks.I tried Curious George ($5.50 as of Feb 2022) and Madonna specialty coffee drink ($5.50). Madonna comes with green mint milk but to my surprise it didn't taste like mint milk at all. Still loved it though. Curious George was super good and I loved the banana flavor.The coffee bar itself is super cute and everyone is friendly!

Kin is the best coffee shop in SLO. Hands down. The way they support their community is like no other. The owners are local, and GREAT guys. Not to mention their coffee. They use Cacti roasters, and their blends are bomb. Especially the Ethiopian. This place is family owned, inclusive, and the vibes are super cool. I definitely recommend!
