I meet the owner in 1996 Jessie was the most incredible woman, I still missing her. But thanks to Her family continued the tradition of her recipes. To much to tell about how wonderful Mexican-America food she create.
I gotta admit I hadn't been to Charlie's Place in ages... maybe 3-4 years but definitely before pandemic. The last visit was pretty bad, but enough that I didn't want to go back for a long time. We had a group of 8 and were seated next to a big group of younger college students doing the sunday brunch thing and it was rowdy. So rowdy in fact that our server what overwhelmed trying to handle them and paying zero attention to us. Anyhow, I didn't go back due to that memory. Recently, I tried again for lunch and it was a great experience.I ordered nachos with chicken and all the goods, and it was fantastic. Service was great and the other people I was with were very happy with their food as well. Overall, a great redeeming experience.
Service is always great, however the food is disappointing and on multiple occasions and after ordering the “avocado toast” I have to leave this review. My order is usually wrong anyway, but this plate is just embarrassing
We had a fantastic waiter named Amed, I truly recommend asking for him on weekends. He will make every experience here truly unique and fantastic. Every need we had he already had covered. Great place and great server.
Since moving to slo I have become a regular at Charlie’s Place and have been lucky enough to get a server named Amed almost every time. Amed is an amazing server who is always on top of everything from making sure we have water to constantly asking if we want or need anything else. He is the kindest server I’ve ever had and never fails to make my Charlie’s experience phenomenal.
Fantastic breakfast burritos! The staff are friendly and make you laugh.... they have great options to enjoy your sunday with mimosas , irish coffees ,bloody marys and more ....
2017: Can't go wrong here. Semi pricie but you get large portions. Great drink specials and friendly staff2021: recently decided to switch up the eating habits and am very disappointed that this spot doesn’t have any real vegetarian options. Especially being so popular with the CalPoly scene you would thing they would offer up at least a small variety. We’ve been going here for years but this is gonna have to dock a star from us and we won’t be coming back as often. :(
Went here with a coworker for the first time and I was super glad that they had no problem with substituting items. I had a crispy chicken ceasar salad with the dressing on the side and extra parmesan cheese on the side as well. My coworker ordered a shrimp ceasar salad. Worth the price and staff was friendly only downside was that it did take long for our food to come out. Though the wait was worth it in my opinion and the price was great I think I paid like $13 or $14 total (keep in mind I had a substitution, extra cheese, and special request to have dressing on the side) and the salad size was pretty decent.
Good food and so nice that it's in the neighborhood.
Great service ; food not flavorful. Shrimp & veggies in my shrimp fajita were burnt.
