Came here for lunch, the Big Sky Asian Noodle Bowl was delicious! Fresh ingredients and very good flavor. Broth isnt super rich, but still tasty. The only negatives…menu was not clear about food allergen ingredients and when I asked the waiter he didnt know either. The service was mediocre in that the waiter didnt really stop by and see if I needed anything after serving the food. The ice tea was good flavor, but hardly any ice served in it so it was warm.
Nice outdoor seating added.
We had a grilled cheese sandwich and a Reuben, both came with choice of fries, salad or soup, which is nice. Service was good and very friendly.. A little pricey, we just had water to drink and the check was $34. Sandwiches were very good but not extraordinary. Fries were standard, crisp and hot.
It's a quiet place. Could be cozy. I wish they'd wash their cushions. The staff wasn't very welcoming. Our server Candace was ok . She didn't introduce herself to us, she walked off while my husband was speaking to her, I do appreciate her going to check if we could have dinner before dinner time. To me the food was mediocre and frankly I would not recommend the place. It's just, though the food reads/sounds amazing on the menu, it was lacking in flavor and character for me. Aside from the Spanish dish I had (which after reheating and eating with saltines was amazing), the nachos were dry, the steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare), not dry, but a very bland flavor. So in the event you want to slather sauce on your meat (not A1 because they don't carry it) this is the steak for you. With that said, bon appetit. I hope you have a better experience than I did.
We haven't been back to SLO in a few years, but Big Sky still had the same fantastic food to devour.
We stopped into Big Sky Cafe on the way to LA. We had a lovely breakfast. We were welcomed into the restaurant. The food was excellent, as was the service. Our kids loved the pancakes! About 2 hours from SLO, our son realized he’d left his bunny stuffy behind. We called the restaurant hoping they’d found it. They had and offered to mail it back to us at no charge. It arrived with the sweetest note. If we find ourselves back in SLO, we will definitely be going back to Big Sky Cafe. Highly recommend!
Amazing spot. The ambience is cozy but spacious. Serves breakfast until 1 (my partner insisted I include the phrase 'the omelette was eggs-cellent'). I had the veggie beet Reuben sandwich with sweet potato fries. They also bring the famous Pepper Plant sauce to your table. All large portions, hot and fast out of the kitchen. Not too pricey and speedy but relaxed service. Shout out to Josue for taking care of us.
Maybe we came on a bad day, but none of us can understand the rave reviews. The menu looked fantastic, but every thing about our meal was mediocre. Service was slow, although very friendly. Nashville Hot chicken was not at all spicy and the chicken was a little dry. Salad was decent and the polenta fries were novel, but not good enough to save the rest of the meal. Big Sky was a big disappointment.
Nice airy place, with a small patio in front. Had the chicken pesto sandwich, very yummy! ?
We did not know it was Fat Tuesday when we arrived at the Big Sky, but it became readily apparent with all the decorations, the band looking very Mardi Gras, as were many of the folks in the restaurant. I ordered Paella and my wife ordered the Huli Huli Chicken. Both meals were absolutely delicious and portions were BIG. We strted with the deepfried cauliflower, which was also very good. Our server Candace was SPECTACULAR, and she was a busy person with all the folks there for the Mardi Gras festivities. We are just passing through, but will come back the next time in SLO.
