Sunday for brunch with my friends after the BANDA MS concert, Tostadas restaurant in San Jose coming back from Salinas was all and exactly what we needed and the cherry on top of the cake was our host/server Melissa (Meli) who made our brunch special, super attentive, and helpful, she made us feel like mega VIPs.Don't let the wait time discourage you, the system said 45m but the host sat us down a bit earlier as we waited patiently with a couple of drinks. We order a few of their signature plates and we all enjoyed the food flavors and presentation! One thing and observation for the restaurant management: please have someone check the bathrooms often. Due to your high traffic it's easy to get them messy and put some nice essence in them, because they were not very fresh.
Food was good but I would not recommend on a hot day. It was 90 degrees outside and we waited about 40min for a table. We were extremely happy when we were called but the heat and gym like smell inside hit us like a wave the moment we walked in! They had no AC and it smelled like a mens locker room inside. The inside is very small so all the tables were crowded together. It was so loud I could barely hear what my friend was saying. If you are looking for a good date spot, look elsewhere.Again, the food was really good, but not enough to make up for the lack of AC in the middle of a heat wave.
Excellent Mexican Restaurant with High-End Drinks and Well Presented Food offerings but with a surprisingly casual vibe and good prices. Honestly, one of the "best" Mexican restaurants in the Bay Area. Notable features are the numerous hand crafted cocktails, an intuitive menu with many selections, and both indoor and outdoor seating in a safe San Jose location. Overall, highly recommended to visit this place if you enjoy Mexican food but want a higher end experience than a taqueria. This has a more upscale feel to it if you look at the food and drinks, but feels more casual overall. Highly recommended and one of my favorites now, no lie.[The Vibe and Location]The location here is great, super easy to find and there’s plenty of parking. No dedicated parking for the restaurant but I had no issue. The vibe is awesome, as there’s always latin music playing in the background. They have plenty of Mexican aesthetics placed around the restaurant. There’s bar seating, indoor, and outdoor seating here. On the outside it may look deceiving but once you enter - you know that this place is going to be good. The service here was great and everyone was really friendly. I didn’t feel rushed and my food came when I ordered it in a reasonable time.[The Food and Drinks]The drinks are absolutely excellent here. Well prepared, good liquor content, and they’re presented in a way that really impresses you when they’re served. Highly recommend the Cadillac Margarita here as well as the Paloma. They weren’t filled with sugar and had the right balance of liquor and flavor. The food comes on these really cool wooden serving platters which just add to the feel of the restaurant. It was served to perfection, taste was on point, and it comes with this amazing Aoili sauce which just makes it that much better. One of the best Mexican restaurants in the entire Bay Area.[Recommendation for Owners]Recommendation is that they change the exterior to match the amazing food and drinks. If you pass by this place, you wouldn’t think it was as good as it was (as it kind of looks like a hole in the wall taqueria, but definitely isnt!). Possibly change the signage or add some decor to the exterior to speak to the amazing experience?
There is restaurant on Santa Clara St. in Downtown San Jose that I always see crowded and popping @tostadas.sj. My friends and I went to get some delicious and authentic Mexican food. They got the Sopes Toluquenos, Sopes Steak, and i got the Grilled Rib-Eye steak served over silky garlic mashed potatoes, Topped w/ onion rings and a mushroom demi-glace. It was so good and generously huge. We also got the HH nachos. I also tried a Chavela for the first time and my friend got the Michelada. I can see why this place is so popular, the food is good and it has a fun atmosphere. Definitely coming back for the HH or weekly special.?Tostada on Santa Clara St. in East Side San Jose, CA. @tostadas.sj
Cute loud place to forget about what’s going on in your life. The food is comfort food. It does it’s job while your enjoying a drink and listening to many people socialize. The love the plates, they’re different. They serve on wooden plates, super cute. The drinks are good. I had a michelada and a mangonada. I prefer the michelada. We had the shrimp fajitas and the sopitos. Be careful the red salsa is so spicy. The prices are fair, so do t be afraid and order and enjoy. This place is not to have a romantic dinner or much less a conversation, it is so so loud, but ok to drink a couple of micheladas and simply see and hear people having fun.
Came here for the first time for a late breakfast and a little hungover music was blasting and alcohol was being served like it was a Saturday night. Caught me off guard at first The drinks will look delicious very colorful and fruity. I got a few different tacos they were all delicious my wife got that chilaquiles which were also very good service was fast especially being so busy and our waitress was awesome I highly recommend this place can't wait to go back for some drinks and see what else is on the menu.
First time here was tonight, my Sister in law and rode around the City looking for some good Authentic Mexican food. There’s tons of Mexicans spots in San Jose yes of course. We happen to be passing and saw a crowd outside the door, so we had to flip a you’ie. The vibe was cool the Bartender Heimi can make some drinks, and he cool. I was surprised with the food. Enjoyed it and the crowd. Definitely will be going back. Only issue for me, we sat at the bar, I got hips and the bar stools need to be a little bit wider ? but it’s all good ??
Tostadas! Wow! What an experience. The great vibe smacks you in face as soon as you enter the restaurant! The staff is amazing! Eduardo (Manager) Jaime the bartender boss! Breanda the bartender babe and you cannot forget Robert OOO the amazing waiter! Every single one of them as well as the rest of the staff are amazing! They truly make Tostadas what it is. The drinks are dynamite! They sneak up on you. This place feels like home. It is well worth the wait! The Shrimp cocktail is to die for and I highly recommend the "Slushy " drink of the day! It makes you extra happy! If you haven't been, then GO!!! See you soon my friends!
¡Muy delicioso tostadas y pozole!
Really good food and atmosphere. Got the carnitas Benedict and Bloody Mary. I felt the green peppers in the Benedict could have been cooked more but is fine anyways. All the food coming out looked really good. Sat at the bar for quicker service. I would try again.
