It was my birthday and I could have chosen to go anywhere and I picked Tabu Shabu! The food is fresh and of the highest quality. Seating is bar style which really works... everyone has their own pot. Pretty simple...pick your sauce, veggies a, noodles and proteins cook them in the boiling sauce to your preference. As a bonus they took our extras and made them into a porridge which was excellent...highly recommend!
Personally, there's no other shabu shabu place that compares in the South Bay. The quality, service, and taste of the food here makes it worth visiting again and again and again and again. (And this is coming from someone who's given up on Hai Di Lao, One Pot Shabu, and Happy Lamb.)The staff is super attentive and receptive to requests, so if you like a whole cup of green onions in your ponzu, let them know! Nothing makes me feel like a part of a community more than when a restaurant recognizes me, and the staff always seem to remembers us, even on super busy days. I like that you can customize what you'd like on your vegetable plate (get outta here, carrots!). Also, they make THE BEST brown rice. It's not mushy and has amazing texture. The zabuton short rib has a very unique texture and is worth trying if you like beef! They have the usual options for meat as well, such as pork, lamb, and seafood. When you're feeling extra hungry, turn your broth into a porridge at the end of the meal! I've done this with the tonkatsu broth and it's *chef's kiss*. Ask for it a little soupier if you don't like it souper thick.Check into the wait list via Yelp on heavier traffic days!
Service is special. Been a few times, and server is always different, but equally friendly and helpful and decently fast. Soup is delicious, freshly cooked by the eater, with plenty of options and plenty of portion. They have some interesting sakes if you’re in the mood to splurge. I would skip the appetizers. Don’t skip the black sesame ice cream dessert.
Food is delicious. Servers are extremely nice and caring. Quality of food: OVER THE ROOF. I recommend this place to everyone who loves hot pots. I ate almost the hole pot (I usually get full before that point)
Quality of meat, vegetables, soup and sauces are all high. Service was very good also. Price is on the expensive side though.
This place didn't want to welcome us, a group of 3 adults, 4 kids around 8 pm Saturday night. The host (female, very long fake eyelashes) was the most awful receptionist we've ever experienced in the restaurant business. We were told that it could take up to an hour even though the seats were open up, and we were okay to be seated separately. She still didn't want to seat us.The service was mediocre. Our server couldn't beat the noise of the music in house to explain the menu clearly. The same host didn't want to serve us anything we asked for. They didn't even give us water to start with, did not heat up our broth to be ready for dipping the meat. They didn't look at us until the moment we paid our bill and saw that we gave them good tips.At least they said thank you, but no thank you.The food was good. The kids love it, but to be treated like that again, no!
Delicious Japanese shabu shabu. You pick your protein and it comes with a full set including rice, noodles, vegetables, sauces, broth, etc. You will get plenty to eat.
Five stars all around! Great food, great service, really nice atmosphere, very reasonably priced for what you get. Shout out to our server, Emerald! She was amazing!
When the three of us besties get together it's always a blast! This time we stepped out of our comforts zone and attempted something new! We picked, prepared, and cooked our soup. It was so much FUN with our super cool server, Issac! The owner of the restaurant John was so friendly and helpful too. We wanted to share our experience with all our friends. ??
Went on a Sunday night. Seating is bar style. Lots of ways to customize your order, very friendly staff. Noodles for the soup and rice to eat with the meats and veggies. Really like the individual pots and burners.Tried the pork broth. Between the three of us we had pork, rib eye, lamb, and shrimp. All very tasty cooked in the broth. Finished it off with the soup.
