This was a fascinating find after a visit to the Rosicrucian Egyptian museum. The service is amazing and highly recommend reservations for the evenings. The food is interesting and all appetizer/tapa style. We had:-Pig ear "salad" 3*which is marinated pig ears in looooots of garlic, lime/citrus and parsley.I'm used to eating the Mexican cueritos which are tender (pig skin) and the texture of the ears is way harder, tougher and chewier. I didn't particularly like the texture but the flavor was delicious.-Duck fried rice 4*The flavors were amazing. The meat portions are way smaller than in the pictures the restaurant has posted. The rice in my professional opinion was over cooked although my friend found it perfect.-oven Octopus 5*Absolutely amazing! Tender and flavorful.Lots of garlic, perfectly cooked. Wish we would have ordered one dish for each of us instead of splitting.-Broa (cornbread) 5*Highly recommend, it's not a sweet bread. There's no sugar in it. It's tender and dense. Almost like a banana bread. We loved it with butter or oil.-Flan 4*Tiny square of flan, not as dense as Mexican flan and also less sweet. Definitely delicious.
Couldn't find a breakfaat/brunch menu so I added some pictures in case anyone else is interested in their breakfast menu.Food was great but really pricey. Enjoyed the grilled octopus the most as well as the grilled vegetables. Duck rice was a tiny portion for $19.Overall, we did enjoy our meal and can't complain about the food but it did feel overpriced.
Portuguese tapas place locate around downtown San Jose. You are looking at average 3 dishes per person, a good mix of seafood, beef, pork and chicken for your selection. The octopus is tender ?? and well seasoned, highlight of the night. They also have some rare items like pig ear, beef tongue if you wanna explore. It is about 50-60 per person.Decent restaurant, good vibe.
So, so good! I wish I could have more of any Portuguese dish every day in my life. Good service and friendly staff. If you like octopus, don't forget to get theirs when visiting. Desserts and coffee are also a go to.
I don't think I'll ever forget this meal. My first day in San Jose, thousands of miles away from home, brother buying me food before he drops me off. The music, the comfort in the food, the varied tastes, the absolute legend that was the duck rice. It was perfect.
Great atmosphere and good food. The dishes have an authentic Portuguese flavor. The weakest for us was the mussels but everything else was top notch.
Very nice place downtown San Jose. As sister restaurant of Michelin star Adega, no doubt the best dish is the grilled octopus! Butternut squash soup is very creamy and tasty. Duck rice is very good as well. Would like to try some other dishes next time for sure.
It’s good to try once, but prob won’t come back again. The flaming sausage has very unique presentation, but taste just like any other chorizo. Pig ear salad was surprisingly the best dish of the day- packed with flavor. Kale soup was quite bland, and the steak had a strong gamey taste. Scallop with curry crusting was also my favorite. Spinach in the octopus dish was the best part. Egg tart and duck rice didn’t taste as good/unique as it advertises. Overall we spent ~$180 for three people, quite disappointed for the quality.
What a great find. Didn't plan on coming here but glad we stumbled upon it. Welcoming atmosphere that serves Portuguese food "tapas/small plate" style.Went with a group of 5 so we all got to try a little bit of a lot of things. None of us left hungry, that is for certain!Flavors were great, food preparation was great, service was great. Our favorites were the shrimp in garlic sauce (not photographed), Butternut Squash soup although it was more of a cream garlic flavor, duck fried rice (not photographed), I really enjoyed the lobster in kimchi mayo, and my husband loved the Francesinha although it was super filling! Everything was good but those were the top choices. Excited to go back to try more!
Came here with four people with a reservation on a Saturday night - we were seated outside and there were heaters so it wasn’t too cold.Good:I enjoyed all the little dishes they had - my favorites were the spinach cream, the duck rice, mushroom rice, and the filet mignon. The free bread was great and we got a ton of refills. The cream tart dessert had a marshmallow texture which was to die for.Bad:The meat croquettes were a bit dry and the octopus was small. The portion sizes here are not impressive - expect to order a lot to be full!Overall a unique experience and wouldn’t come again because we tried everything we wanted off the menu.
