Mexican Cocktail Bar Tacos

Went for my birthday dinner on a Saturday afternoon around 4:30, on a day with no concert or event at the arena. There was about ten of us. I was excited, and chose it because of the delicious food I had eaten there in the past, specifically the home made tortillas. There was no wait staff. There was no AC. You have to group order off your phone or get in line at the one cash register. We also had to go up to the bar every time we wanted a drink, and were consistently ignored. The margarita machine was broken! They never brought our chips, salsa, guac. No water or drink refills. You could get up to get room temp water from a jug. Overall the food was good, but the horrible atmosphere overshadowed the evening. Which sucks because it is nice in there. We were all hot and grumpy by the time food came. I wish we had just ordered and taken it outside or something. It was very expensive for what they provided. I probably won't go back.

Great spot in Downtown San Jose in the middle of San Pedro Square. We had the Birria Tacos and they were SCRUMPTIOUS. The Guacamole tasted homemade with big chunks of avocado and a bit of heat. We topped it off with the Prickly Pear Margarita which was full and delicious. We ordered two, but the server recommended a pitcher, which was a better deal. Not gonna say no to that! I am definitely heading back again.

I just came back from Mexico City and Oaxaca so maybe my standards are high but the food is aight and the prices are super high. Not coming back. I’ve had way better for way less. Should’ve known when they said they don’t have consomé to go with the birria. Red flag. Should’ve went to the east side for some real Mexican food. Also the michelada sucks. Tastes bitter. Where is the clamato?!

The avocado tacos, the chips and salsa, the Mexican corn, and the rice are absolutely delicious. I like the environment too, seating outside or inside and the staff is really friendly. Definitely a place I enjoy going for lunch. Biggest downfall is the homeless people in downtown San Jose sometimes you get the crazies running up and down the street while you’re trying to eat.

Nice setting, good margaritas, food os great as well. Will come again.

Had lunch with a friend there recently. Was very pleased with the overall food quality. Had the chicken mole enchiladas, and they were made with REAL mole, not just red chile. The service was excellent, very attentive and courteous service and servers. Wish they had regular pinto beans and not just black beans, though. Good prices, too. Will return.

This is a nice Mexican place with good food options! They don't have a huge menu which is good in my opinion so you can choose from the great options they have. The food was really tasty and the staff is super friendly and patient. The vibe is also pretty nice there

Absolutely delicious. The staff was knowledgeable and very polite. Try the homemade tamales, they are amazing. We ordered guacamole, salsa and chips with mole on the side to dip the chips in. The guacamole was a bit spicy, but the mole is delicious and so is the salsa. The margaritas are very good. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. A great place to meet friends if you don't want to worry about splitting the bill.

Loved the outside heated dinning. Fast service. Great staff and the clean your table thru out the night so no dirty dishes in empty glasses sitting in your table. Staff is very nice and make great suggestions. CERVICHE IS BOMB AND SO ARE THE SHRIMP TACOS! DRINKS ARE STRONG AND GOOD!

Came to Olla for happy hour with a small group and by god what a good happy hour it was. We realized quickly that Olla does not skimp on food- those tacos could have been filled with 3 tacos worth of filling. The chips and salsa- huge. Nachos-also huge. Ceviche tostada- delicious. The spicy margarita was wonderful but the prickly pear was lovely at first and got a little too sweet very quickly. Otherwise the staff is great, the inside is beautifully decorated, and if you choose to sit outside you have plenty of great people watching right next to the San Pedro market. But really go for the happy hour- plenty of bang for your buck!
