My partner and I always get either the Medallion Banh Mi or the Porchetta Banh Mi. You really can’t go wrong with either. The banh mi here are unlike others around the Bay Area. Yet, you still get that rich umami flavor and veggie deliciousness.Pro-tip: make sure you get plenty of the green sauce. You can put that stuff on EVERYTHING! YUM...
I am an early enthusiast of Mommy's whose chicken Bahn Miwhich are part of my Saturday farmers' market experience. While I expect most Banh MI offerings in this Valley are at least quite satisfactory, as I have found is most local Vietnamese food, from the buns, brought in from LA (for some reason the Bay area is a bread desert), to the striking freshness of the ingredients, Mommy's is a treat of which I don't tire.I generally consume the chicken option in at least two sittings. Last week I realized when as I took my first bite each time, I involuntarily closed my eyes to better savor what, for me at least. was the melding of flavor and heat as close to perfect as I experience. The addition of a Fried Chicken alternative is an experience not to be missed.And. Curtis and crew offer a level of friendly and gracious as it gets.
I visited them for the Rose Garden Farmer’s Market this Saturday. The shredded chicken banh mi on a baguette was delicious. I loved the pickled carrots. Great choice for a picnic if you’re headed over to the rose garden.
