We showed up with a large party. They accommodated with a large table in a seldom used part of the restaurant. Food was great and service was prompt and friendly even though they were short staffed.
Two months ago, my family and I had a horrible takeout experience. After opening my order in the car, the sashimi was missing so I had to go back and complain. Not believing me, the lady owner asked to see the rest of the box. Not contented, she even followed me to my car and asked to see the rest of our orders including my wife and daughter's. Never experienced such shameful act from a restaurant owner.

Best Japanese food! I live in SoCal now, but always have to get my fix everytime I'm in SJ! Gene, Joanne and the entire staff are efficient, funny and really make you feel welcome. It's a Japantown icon!
It takes determination to get here, parking a block away and threading through the construction constriction. There is dine-in option, but you must absolutely call in any takeout order, if just to be kind, while they are open two hours for lunch. We bounced off, today, but will call in soon!
New to the area, but aware for years of Minato thanks to the late, great Anthony Bourdain. Ordered a dinner box and combination, both came perfectly prepared, and it's an awesome deal in terms of food for $. Owners and staff are super friendly, will be making it a regular spot!
This is one of my favorites in the Bay Area, located in the San José Japantown area. Delicious food, a simple menu and great value in a warm, family run atmosphere. It really reminds me of restaurants I visited in Japan that specialize in a certain type of food, keep it simple, and do it very well. Today I had the lunch special: chicken teriyaki, tempura, and tuna sashimi with rice, salad and soup for $14.25! So much food! The tuna was super fresh and tempura delicious. For the special you also have other options (choice of 3 for lunch; dinner has 4 choices and is a little more $). They also have udon, donburi and basic sushi rolls. Don’t come here expecting super fancy rolls or presentation… just enjoy the great fare and friendly service from the husband and wife team. ?
I haven't been here in a while. I was craving sukiyaki and I was not disappointed. My friend ordered the teriyaki salmon. Both dishes were amazing. I recommend this restaurant !!! Please support your local independent businesses.
