Best Ethiopian place in all of SJ! The staff is so attentive, kind, and truly makes eating at this restaurant an amazing experience. The environment of the restaurant is warm and welcoming, with beautiful decor and art on the walls. The food is authentic, extremely flavor full, and it is clear the ingredients are extremely high quality. This place is definitely one of my new favorites?
Such an amazing spot! I’ve been to several Ethiopian restaurants but LeYou is my favorite. I highly recommend their tuna and lamb
Virtually no service at all and the menu system is a pain to deal with. The veg combo platter had extremely small portions (about 4 tablespoons per dish in tiny bowls) and to top it off they did not even give plates. When asked, they got a plate that wouldn't even fit an appetizer.Would strongly recommend folks avoid and head out to just about any other Ethiopian restaurant in the area for a better dining experience.
Really good flavors here. They also have excellent espresso drinks. All the veggie dishes were quite excellent. The chicken comes on the bone. The beef dish had a bit more sour than my preference, but it's likely exactly the way it should be. Recommended.
Food: 4/5Service: 5/5Ambiance: 5/5Overall: I was looking for food driving back to SF. I was able to find this place and I loved everything about it.The extended review...Food:Combo Plate - 4/5 - I chose the sega (beef) and doro (chicken). The flavor was awesome and it definitely filled me up. It also came with a couple sides of veggies so i chose the zikuni and gomen.Service: 5/5 - The staff was amazing! Very friendly and attentive.Ambiance: 5/5 - So when I got here the main indoor seating was closed and I wasn't sure if it was even open. Then you go back to the patio which was around the corner and it was very pleasant and unexpected.
The interior seating was closed and only the patio was open. This was not too bad as the patio is away from the street, tree-shaded and even somewhat cozy. There are heaters for cold evenings. One orders by scanning a barcode on the table and then navigating to a web app that is the menu. It's fairly straightforward to put together the order, although the app could be improved (the back-button does not work as expected, and my order didn't take right away). You have to give a tip and pay before even seeing a waiter which feels a bit odd. What am I paying a tip for? It's basically self-service, except for the 20 seconds when your food is set in front of you. It took about 15 minutes from order to delivery which actually happened even though there's no feedback other than the notification from the bank that the card was charged. The food was good, fresh. Ethiopian food reminds me of Indian curries. It is served on a sower pancake which you also use to pick up the food. Forks are available for the un-initiated.
A good place to catch with friends. Enjoyed the food but it could have been better. They were out of some of their specials. The food took a long time to be served. We were sitting near the door and as the place started getting crowded they started to keep the doors open (covid protocol). Since a few of us didn't have jackets we were freezing (It was 0 degrees outside). They can either limit their capacity or place the tables differently. Otherwise the ambiance was good. Try their vegetarian combo, kategna and chocolate mousse.
Decent Ethiopian. Some of the dishes were great (lentils) some were not (tofu). Good vegan and vegetarian options. Injera was plentiful and tasty. Slow service. Order on website using QR code and must pay before you eat, which is weird.
Wonderful Ethiopian experience. Dining in their patio area, even in the winter, is cozy and a little magical.Pros:* Easy to understand menu for non-experts.* Rich, tasty food that rivals the offerings at any of the other Ethiopian restaurants in the area.* Varied, extensive offering of sides.* Attentive, friendly service even with order-by-phone at the table.* Plenty of parking.Con:* Pandemic has limited their menu a little (no lamb).
I’ve been to quite a few Ethiopian restaurants around the Bay Area, but Le You definitely stands out for a few reasons:1. The ambience and the decor is gorgeous! Love the theme here and for a second this feels like a restaurant in DTSJ.2. The items on the menu are something I have not seen at other Ethiopian restaurants. My personal favorites, and I highly recommend - the Ingudayi (Chopped Portobello Mushrooms) and the K’ey Wot (sauce base) with Beg (boneless Lamb). These two dishes had really bold flavors and loved the tenderness of the meat. The spices used in the Ingudayi was something that I really enjoyed and you could feel the heat but it was definitely delicious!3. For Appetizers, I loved the the Minchet Abish and the Kategna. The Minchet Abish is truly bite sized, but definitely packed all the flavors.Overall, If you like Ethiopian, I highly recommend stopping by Le You. Great food, great service and you won’t be disappointed.Update:Came back here in 2021 and for the first time sat down outside and it was really pretty. Very well done Le You and as always outstanding food!
