After attending a tough family funeral we decided to meet for dinner. When I arrived at House of Pizza the majority of my family was seated with drinks and pizzas on order. In fact, some pizza was already served. I was confronted near the tables by a lady from the food counter. She abruptly demanded a head count from me. I was confused having just walked inside. So I pointed out my family and proceeded to count them. I asked her why she wanted me to count and then I was informed of a 20 head limit. I counted roughly 22 and asked how we could make this work and was rudely told I would then need to take my family and leave. I gave a few creative solutions and it was like talking to a angry stone wall. My elder mother had to step in and beg for us to be allowed to grieve with our family that evening. We were responsible for that funeral and this meal. Imagine how much money we spent that evening. Imagine how you made us feel as we sat there eating your food, still. Suggest customer service training for your staff. Never again House of a pizza. DO BETTER. Our community deserves it.
The place had vintage look and was nicely decorated, with a bar and arcade, a good place to hang out and chill. The pizza was good, though; my friend quoted "The cheese is was added on top of the meats & veggies." -K, & when we experienced it made sense. The cheese literally slides right out of the dough along with the toppings or should i say "bottomings."XD It's good, but doesn't hold itself well. Still was a good time none the less!
Been going here for over 40yrs, I haven't been here in over 8yrs, and never experienced the level of customer service that I experienced yesterday. Large groups (e.g. seems to be 15-20 people) point-blank you're not welcome; even our group of 12 folks got the profiling look up & down just after they turned-away another larger group, silence then walking back to speak to George, and then eventually seated us. They presumed we were with the prior group; again, profiling us that since we looked of the same ethnicity; we must be together as a group despite arriving at different times, not mingling/speaking with anyone of their party. George felt that were were all together. I'm sure he went back to his hidden pulpit with one-way mirrored glass and/or cameras to watch everyone from our party came inside and the members from the other group drove-off from the parking lot. As soon as that part left the lot, we were seated For a Sunday mid-day group to celebrate a birthday of a young kid almost didn't happen because of this recent change of business practices of profiling groups. Basically from what I can see, if you are small elderly group of bridge players, kiddie bday party, or small group of 2-4 people. You'll be allowed/tolerated/served. If anyone in your group looks like they're potentially going to give them any potential demands of basic courtesy/customer-service/etc. You'll be turned away and asked to leave. If you want to partake in consuming 'Koukars House of Pizza' grub. Walk up, Smile, ask ultra politely that you want 2/4 seats, don't ask to seat your larger group together (e.g. its what their tables can accommodate anyway), and stay silently while keep your pleasant smile. If you pass the visual profiling test, get the nod, then step to the left a smidge, clasp your hands together and maintain a neutral stance/posture. While they either look back and get a nod from the floor supervisor or George from the back. They'll turn back to you and signal you to your table. Otherwise, asked to leave. This is what I observed yesterday during our late afternoon visit. I'll take pleasure to hear that they've closed their doors because service like this should not be allowed to take place. Oddly enough, a group we saw getting turned away later that evening, we crossed paths with them once again at the Oakridge mall. They had wrapped up their party at the Cheesecake factory evidently after being turned away at this place.
Pizza is way overpriced, I've had better for cheaper. I ordered one large pizza and it wasn't even put in a whole cardboard box it was just in half of a box put into a paper bag cover. You'd figure for the price it would at least be properly put into a whole box. This place was recommended and I was highly disappointed.
We left San Jose 7 and a half years ago but still have to visit house of pizza ever time we go back. Love them one of the best pizzas I have ever had.
Best square pizza, delicious Beer, awesome service, coolest bartender!
Been coming here since the I was a kid in the 90’s! Probably some of the best pizza I have ever had- all meat especially! You won’t be disappointed with anything you order. I am so happy you are still around and can’t wait to visit soon!
It is a really nice pizza place that has very unique and special decorations inside!!! The environment is great! You order at the cashiers and they will bring the food to your table! It takes about 30 mins for the pizzas to be cooked! The pizza is delicious!!! You can customize your own pizzas from one topping (lower prices) to 2 to 5 toppings (higher prices). They also provide some classic/ famous choices (e.g., all meat). There are four different sizes (very small, small, medium and large). Our family has come here for a few times!
Gross.Had a pepperoni pizza. I’ve had better pizza from the freezer. $20 for a small pizza and $7.50 for a beer. Get a hotdog from 7-11 before you eat this.I imagine people eat here out of loyalty, not because it’s good.2 stars because they had a a decent beer.
Kukars House of Pizza has been a family tradition in the finest pizza around for three generations now I absolutely love it there?
