Elegant venue for dimsum. Order off menu or carts (they come out around 11:30 am) for dimsum. Fried purple yam stuffed w sesame paste was exceptional, as was e noodles w lobster (if you don't mind using fingers). Weekday (M - Th lunch) dimsum deals make this place excellent value. Worthy, I want to give it 4.5 stars but can't quite get to 5 stars.
Be careful with missing items but still get charged for them. Twice have we been at this restaurant for dim sum in the last few months. Both times there were items missing. The first time we got home and realized one of the items never came. I called the restaurant and was told to go back and they would give me the item. (Should have given me a refund!)Today, we went to have dim sum again. The restaurant was not very busy at all; there were many empty tables. (Strange for noon time on Saturday.) We ate and after we finished, the waitress brought the to-go boxes and the check. We doubled checked and noticed that one of the items was never served. I specifically told the waitress that we are done and don't want that item any more. She took the order list and ran off. I asked what's going on? She turned her head back and said if they steamed the item already she would bring the dish. What? We are already done. She came back in one minute and tossed that dish on our table. It wasn't even hot. I told her you should have cancelled the item. We are all done with eating. Of course she wasn't going to do that.Other reviewers have described similar situations so apparently this happens more often than a one-off case. Needless to say, we will not be going back to Golden Palace again. I think it is very short-sighted of the restaurant to handle the situation the way they did. We would have continued to patronize the business if they had handle the situation gracefully and correctly, which is to apologize for the missing item and remove it from the check. Instead, they made us pay for the item that they had forgotten. It was a $7 dish but they don't realize they lost an extended family of customers for life. Perhaps this explains why the restaurant was not even half full at noon time on a Saturday.
Waiter didn’t disclose the fish is not fresh, she highly recommended the red bass. When the fish came out, it was black and doesn’t look fresh at all! We tasted and it’s not. I called the waitress, she admitted that the fish is from frozen not live. But the order cleanly said it’s live fish. And they wanted to charge $28.99 per lb for a dead fish! The boss man showed up said this is what they charge and left without a sign of apology. The supervisor came to apologize and took it off from my order. Never go back again. They try to sale me a dead fish for $28.99 per lb.
Fantastic food! Great portions and selections. Staff very responsive. My understanding is that there is a pricing change/increase on the weekends...yet, my bride and I would still attend if we lived in the area! Like I said, great food!
Very cool waiters, good food
Expensive for what you get. Haven’t had a ‘bad’ meal there but he’s raised his prices once again. The lady that usually works the front/takeout is very nice. Check your order though before you leave. Wrong or missing items previously.
Extra star for good food, but service was horrible, mostly because we don't stay Chinese, so it was harder for us to compete for the servers' (who don't speak English) attention. We were seated for 1½ hrs, and only 4 of the MANY dishes we ordered were served. Staff apologized saying they were busy (this was xmas day), but we arrived just as things were winding down.At some point we got up and went to the counter to pay for our dishes (the ones which we had received) and left.
The dimsum was fine. Had to try it out. Most of the staple dimsum was a bit bland. One of the dumpling that they made was really good. Overall, I Would come again and try other dimsum dishes that are less popular
Golden Palace restaurant ( 富華軒in Chinese)We went this dim sum place on Black Friday. The price is the same as regular weekday(cheaper than weekends). We arrived at 12:30 so no table available we waited about 15 mins which is not too bad.We order their signature $25 lobster fried noodle and other 9 dim sum dishes. All delicious and good value. Highly recommended!
Pretty decent dim sum place! Convenient location in Cupertino. Will come again
