Funky place one easily grows to love on the first visit. The drinks are top notch, which is most important. The food offerings are varied and tasty, so all in all anyone should find happiness drinking and eating. The wait staff were attentive, bartenders were entertaining while in action. This is the place where you have to try something different. We watched live music in the front while watching the Warriors on the screens while also admiring the shelves of fine liquor behind the bar. The patio in the back was packed and lively this night watching the game. The place probably has a flexible vibe every night and I’m sorry I don’t live closer to catch more of it.
On 6/23 we were walking by the five points and got inspired to go in because the music was so amazing. The band was playing amazing R&B cover music and people were dancing. A few minutes after we walked in, we saw the staff walk up to several African American customers and tell them to stop dancing and “shushed” them to be quit. Soon after they told the band to shut down and stop playing. So disappointing to see this level of pure disrespect towards artistry and diversity. Honestly my husband and I intended to stay and order cocktails. Once we saw that we immediately left and did not give them a dime! I have heard so many amazing things about five points but I am under the influence that they cater to a certain demographic of customers. Personally I was considering hosting a Women in Tech event at this establishment but now I refuse to give my money to an place that draws people of color into their establishment and makes them conform to their comfort. Such a disgrace!
Love the whiskey selection. The theme if the bar is cool. (Five points, NY. As in gangs of New York) I had some coconut shrimp that were fried up nice and crispy. I've had their Shot and a beer special to get things started the last couple times I've been in. It includes one of my east coast favs, Brooklyn Lager
Absolutely love it here. My wife and I came here for a few late night drinks on a Wednesday. Service was excellent. We where taken care of by Tom and Benjamin. Their drinks where amazing. We got x2 of there top drinks, Off On a Comet and The Green Ray plus a few extras. Came a little late for food (no food after 10pm here) but as for the environment and drinks, Highly Recommend it! We'll be coming back for sure with more friends in the near future! Side Note: Bartender mentioned live music on Friday & Saturday nights
Truly great cocktails and drinks. They have some interesting drinks. Pick any on the menu board and you can’t go wrong.
terrible service. food came more than an hour late and was cold and tasteless. the music was so loud we couldn’t even hear ourselves think. we got out as fast as we could. thankfully our waitress and the manager agreed to not charge us for the food, showing some decency.
I've gotta say, this may be one of the best bar ideas and executions (no pun intended) that I've ever seen. Five Points is based on the real life characters and happenings portrayed in the movie Gangs Of New York. Not only is the decor stunning, but the cocktails are out of this world. I came for Happy Hour and loved it so much, I stuck around for the jam band Jazz session later in the night, and then proceeded to shut the place down!!!I had the Blood, List, and Diamonds, their slightly different take on a Vieux Carre. It was smooth, not too sweet, and strong. And the addition of a luxardo cherry puts it over the top.Tyler was an incredible host and bartender and gave me the history of the place and decorative style. There's even a little speakeasy room where you can have private events, or they open if it gets crazy on the weekend. Even the bathrooms are decorated with hand painted scenes from the gangs.Because they do not serve food on Monday, they are pretty relaxed about letting you bring munchies from outside locations. I did have to run out to get something to eat, but I was back for the music.Every time I'm back in San Jose, I'm definitely going to drop in and say hi
Sad that we have not tried Five Points before, their drinks were extremely well made and we loved the vibe they had. My favorite drink was the corpse revived as it was balanced and refreshing. The whiskey flights were a fun way to compares different styles and I need to come back for the connoisseurs flight. The four of us made it through most of the cocktail menu and not a single one was a dud. Come here for a great evening.
Great drinks and bartenders here but this place needs help with their security and bouncers. The door guy ( young guy) was rude to everyone in line. Not necessary at all if you want people coming back. I told the security guy that he doesn’t have to be rude to people coming in to spend their money here and he actually pushed me. That’s service for you! Bartenders work hard and security team just takes away from all that.
Great Services! Thanks again
