Truly deserves five stars! Let me start by saying how amazing the staff was.. they were sweet, friendly and made us feel welcome. We got seated right away and our server came and told us about when the kitchen closes etc so we could get our order in in time. We got the shrimp ceviche, mushroom Tartlette, the Sea bass with bok choy and couple of cocktails. The strawberry mule and the Mezcal drink (can't remember the name) were amazing! I can tell that the bar tender really knew what he was doing with the right amount of concentration of every ingredient! How amazing! We didn't order too much food, only because we wanted to save some room for dessert and so glad we did. We got the Belgian Tiramisu.. oh boy! What deliciousness and I loved that it had a nice twist compared to regular Italian tiramisu which also I love deeply. Overall we had a great time here. Food, ambience, drinks and service were top notch! One of my recommendation for everyone coming here would be please reserve some extra time for parking. There are a few lots near by but it's a small walk so keep some time for that. Highly recommend Yelpers to come check it out!
The mushroom appetizer was so delicious! My mouth is salivating just thinking about it. The drinks were also very well made and creative. I ordered the short ribs which were cooked perfectly. I thought it was a little bit bland but it might be my own ignorance to what French cuisine is supposed to taste like. My boyfriend got the ribeye with mushroom sauce and, again, the sauce was amazing. So flavorful and delicious!!!The tiramisu was a bit of a disappointment. No lady fingers and perhaps no amaretto???The service was incredible though and I love the ambiance of the place. Super cute! It's a great date night spot.
It has very tasty foods. I like the main dishes with beef ribs. I tried a tiramisu as a dessert which was very interesting. It has bar and it's drink was made professionally.Great place for special occasions.
Mediocre cocktails. I ordered a basic old fashion, which was served with tons of ice, I asked the bar tender about the ONE SINGLE appropriate ice cube - he strained my drink to pour it in the appropriate ice cube, by then my drink was warered down, he was just too lazy to make it right the first time. My friend order a cocktail and it was less than mediocre. The salad nicoise was not good. The dressing was more like a balsamic and oil. The Brussel sprouts were REALLY GOOD. The salmon was cooked perfect but the risotto was a joke (not done and tasteless). The seabass was cooked fine, but the sauce was plain and salty, and lastly the steak, it was tough but cooked to the temperature specified, BUT it lack any flavor due to under seasoning. The coffee was great, but you can get this at many places. The wine selection was ok. All in all, a place you can skip, too bad because we were excited about the Viet/French fusion.
Some ok, some nok things.Good; SalmonOk; short ribs stew, quite nice. A bit too much red beetCreme brulee; sugar layer was to thin, creme was goodNok; french press coffee, you dont want to make your own coffee in a restaurant. Mine came out like coffee-water.Service; bit dissapointed, partly my fault. Communicated my order not well enough so we got half an order. However, waiter didnt repeat the order to ensure 2 people where only ordering 1 dish. Also, staff is young and not engaging the tables. They look afraid of waiting tables instead of enjoying it, something the management should improve on.So.. ok restaurant but not living up to the image. Also, for maketing. When you have the blinds closed you cannot see anyone in the restaurant when walking past. We almost assumed it was closed.
This was my first time to Elyse and it was very good. I had the strawberry mule for a cocktail and the sea bass as an entree. The mule was tasty. I thought the strawberry might be too sweet but it was strawberry without extra sugar added. The sea bass was perfectly cooked. It was firm but moist. The plum sauce was better than I expected too. I expected a thick plum sauce like Peking duck but this was thin and light. It didn't overpower the fish. The bok choy was good too.
A hidden gem in downtown San Jose. The location isn't convenient but it's worth finding parking to get to this restaurant. It checks all the boxes with great atmosphere, impeccable customer service, and flavorful food and cocktails.
This was such an extravagant meal, truly delicious and unique beyond words, and you made our family birthday so special. Every single person moves along in this restaurant as if part of a choreographed dance and it is lovely to behold. Thank you!
LOVE this place! We decided to have dinner with friends after wanting something other than a typical Italian restaurant, Japanese or steakhouse. This one looked interesting - a modern take on Vietnamese food. We checked it out and it was excellent! Dinner portions are definitely small, so be sure to get plenty of appetizers to fill you up.
We love this place. Every food we ordered was delicious and the staff was so friendly.
