I've never been more confused by the number of good reviews for a restaurant, and I've never left a restaurant after a few bites of food to go find a meal elsewhere. Until now! I was hoping this was a hole-in-the-wall strip mall gem of a Vietnamese place with a new take on Cajun flavors, which paid more attention to taste than to ambiance (our food came in plastic bags). Instead, it seems to be an overpriced boiled seafood provider. After a long day of exercise, we were hungry enough that a drive through burger joint would have tasted just fine, and we probably should have just done that. We left after about 5 minutes for a nearby taqueria, with apologies to the very kind waitstaff, who were the best part of our experience there.
I am a huge fan of the sweet california sauce! MY FAVORITE sauce to get with seafood: super sweet and buttery. can't even compare to other seafood broil sauces at kickin crab or boiling crab.I always order the 3 lb combo (2 crawfish, 1 shrimp) and share it with my boyfriend or whomever I bring into the restaurant. The crawfish is always cooked perfectly and HUGE in size. The shrimp is sometimes overcooked and sticks to the shell... could even possibly be frozen?, but still very delicious.
Pretty good crawfish and shrimp. The combo was a good dead and came with corn, sausage and potatoes. They have other food but really stick with what they are good for.
Food is great! But, please be patient if you're dining and see one waitstaff member serving the entire restaurant. You can see them working diligently. They're not hanging out. Phone orders, table orders, and so much going on, for the number of employees, they're handling it all very well.Went on a Fridag night for dinner and did wait 45 minutes for my food. But, if you think about the times you waited in line for Boiling Crab back in the day, I'm sure you can wait to try this place out. Or place an order ahead. This place is worth a go!
Food was delicious I would definitely recommend this place to eat. I had calamari, lamb and the wings. All delicious and honestly best calamari I have ever had.
Had lemon leaf wings which were ok and garlic noodles with shaken beef which were very good. Beef was great, texture and taste were excellent.
I am from Louisiana- We toured through California in search of roller-skating rinks and restaurants. I was surprised when the group I was traveling with wanted to try a Cajun restaurant. So, my friends and I started our experience by drinking a few bottles of Corona and Heineken. After a quick pre-game we moved on to the Parmesan garlic noodles, and Oysters- 18 pc- these were amazing. (The oysters were not prepared traditional, but the quality/taste was right.) We also ordered a 4 lb. Combo- Crawfish, clams, Shrimp, and mussels. Includes 3 corn, 3 potatoes, 4 pieces of sausage. I thought wow what a great spin on the flavor with less sodium than I am used to. A+ on the mussels we ate them ALL!
The Bun Rieu does not have the Rieu or meatballs made of pork, shrimp, crab at all. Nani????
Quality food and at a quality price! Will definitely go back. Had crayfish and shrimp boil.
They acted like they didn't want me there.
