Place, ambiance and food is good. Nothing was outstanding. Service was very slow. They may be struggling with service people and maybe thatâs why they took 20 minutes before they approach to offer us a glass of water.
Everything was tasty and the staff was very pleasant. Paying $20 extra for listening to live music in the front room would have been great, except that half our dining experience was listening to house music over the speakers... And while our food was delicious, if was a bit unfortunate that we had to send our entrées back to be reheated because both of our beautiful plates of pork chops were still raw inside. The replacement dishes were perfect though. I had a nice meal, but it was a bit underwhelming and not as seafood-centric as I had expected.
This was a hidden gem that we found where there was availability whereas many restaurants you couldn't book on the same day. See my good attributes of this restaurant and a few things that could have been better. Overall, the food was really top notch and good selection of drinks. However their Manhattan drink was good, but I would recommend opting for the traditional Manhattan. I had both and the latter was definitely better. For food we had the charcuterie, pork chops, filet, salmon, and scallops. I tasted everyone's meal and they did a good job on the dishes. For the Filet I would opt for the sauce on the side as if you're a meat lover then you might want to taste the flavoring of the protein. If you're more a foodie, then have it with the sauce on the meat as it gives it another flavoring. The pork chops was done really well as it was done with great flavoring. They cooked the salmon at medium which also was seasoned well. The scallops were also good too. I would have given them a 5 star but this was a Birthday dinner and my online request was not done which was just some writing on a plate for the dessert as I saw others on the restaurant reviews had this. Even without that, it was never greeted as a birthday dinner. We spent about $400 for the night. Also note that they do put a mandatory 20% gratuity on the bill. I personally would have left a larger tip but when they do that on a small party then I usually just pay what they placed on the bill. Overall I would recommend and return even with the few things I noted above.
Perfect for going to theater. Liked 3 course menu for theater goers that was offered before.
The service, the food, the overall ambiance of the restaurant really made my mothers birthday special. Next time we come back to San Fran we will book another reservation.
Great all around - we enjoyed our anniversary dinner and will return when we visit SF.
Chose Ula to celebrate our 7 yr Anniversary. Ambiance was really nice. Great customer service. Food was overall pretty good. Bread was tasty. Butter & vinegar/olive oil. Oysters were good. Ahi tuna tartare was ok. Not special. Husband loved Pork Chop. It was good. I tasted it. I ordered the Lamb Shank. It was a little gamey. Didnât expect that. But added a lit salt & that helped. Cocktails were good. We also had wine & a Port after dinner. We were served a wonderful Tiramisu as a gift for our Anniversary ( husband doesnât like coffee do I ate the whole thing). It was good. As an aside I often wonder why restaurants donât ask what people would want for dessert instead of deciding for us. We chose the day & time so we could listen to the entertainment, which was awesome. She was great. And sang our 1st wedding dance for me at my husbands request. Very special evening.
Overall, the restaurant felt tired, as though we missed its hay day as the Farallon. The food was okay, not great. Some dishes were way better than others. The soup arrived hot. The scallops were small and uninspired. The pork chop was phenomenal. The steak was good, but overall, nothing special. The desert menu felt like someone was forced to make it. Same old crap. Of course, the decor and visual of the restaurant was the highlight of our evening experience. It is set in a beautiful space. The service was good but felt like no one really wanted to be there. The main ingredient missing was love, from the food and the service. There are better high end options in San Francisco for the money. Side note: The food experience does not live up to the epic space.
Very cosy and nice place. The food was excellent..
The servers were lovely, just an over priced place for tourists.
