We came here with a party of 30+ people for a company dinner, food was great and service was excellent! The server who was leading our team was on top of it, very fast, and accurate with our orders. It was clear the staff made sure everyone was taken care of.
Appetizer was good but the main dish was really disappointing, from the food to the presentation. It looks like a take away dish from some Mediterranean restaurant not a $45 rack of lamb dish I would expect from an English restaurant. Drinks were good too. Overall I would not come back for dinner but maybe cocktails. Btw the bill was for 2 ppl and we only got 1 entree.
We called this place the day we wanted to visit and they fit us in despite hosting a larger party. This kindness was matched by the great service. The food was good and the cost... well it's San Francisco so you can't expect cheap and expect quality. Cost is not outrageous, however. The space has high ceilings and has no decor to control the sound so it doesn't take much to get to loud to have difficulty with having a conversation over dinner.
This place is brilliant! I have eaten here through the years and have never been disappointed. The only regrets I have from this birthday visit is they no longer have the frites with truffled soft boiled egg. However, the staff was very accommodating with my group and took exfrA care to ensure we enjoyed the 2000 Lynch Bages.
Food was alright (esp for the price), Old Fashioned cocktail was good, Wine list could use some improvement. There is a 7% charge on top of the bill (and tax).
Visited for thanksgiving dinner this year - our first experience of thanksgiving as we are from the UK. The quality of the food was good, portion sizes were hearty but not over generous (great for a multi course meal). Service was a little haphazard with starter orders not going in and an issue with the wrong dessert but these were rectified swiftly and we just chalked it up to it being an extremely busy day. Would certainly go back if we found ourselves in SF again.
Vacationing with another couple and decided to try this place out. Very poor service and think the food is over priced for what we had. There are better places in the area. Will not go back.

I needed to organize a team dinner for 14 senior leaders and The Cavalier was recommended by one of them. I reached out and Alisha and Jason were incredibly responsive and made me confident that they knew exactly what they were doing. During the actual event one of the attendees messaged me to say how fantastic it was and the compliments have been rolling in ever since! Rave reviews all around. Since all the hard work was done by the restaurant I wanted to pass along the compliments and thanks by leaving a review - thanks for the great night and making me look good, we will be back!
