I don't know how good of a steakhouse Tad is, but it's definitely a wonderful diner for breakfast!I ordered a simple two-egg breakfast with some coffee and a beer patty; wanted to try at least some of that steak. The eggs were fluffy, the toast was fresh, and the patty was juicy. All in all, a proper breakfast. They also have a cocktail bar with plenty of options; had it not been the early morning I'd have loved to try it out.Pretty solid diner, all things considered.

Ribeye steak met expectations, but was nothing special. Salad and fries were good. Service was fast and friendly. I like the new location and the much more open architecture inside. Restaurant was relatively clean. Employees wearing masks.

I have lots of dining plans for my week in SF, but I arrived here in afternoon tired and feeling the warmth and sunshine when I dressed for fog and chill. So, I thought I'd try nearby Tad's and have a comparatively economical steak (Tad's "special steak"). Not sure why it's special. It's on the thin side, but tasty. Of course, tasty since it's slathered with salt, seasonings and served with garlic butter. House salad drenched with balsamic vinaigrette. I had no issues with the baked potato. The staff is pleasant. You order and pay at the counter and the food is brought to you. It is what it is.No pretentions otherwise.

Recommended by one of my friends, she knew that this place would have something everyone (there was a group 6 of us) and she was right. I’ve never been to a place like this but as soon as you walk-in, the menu boards are above the cashiers who are ready to take your order. I noticed that they had a diverse menu and with our group, we can be indivisible, so we were able to find a table, get settled and review the menu. The place itself was very much like a cafeteria style dining area, which made it great for a group our size. We went back up to place our order and drinks (there was a bar available) it wasn’t long after that our food was delivered. Two of my friends ordered the salmon and they loved it! They commented on how it wasn’t dry and had good flavor. Two of us had steak. My steak was cooked perfectly medium rare (of course my friends made side comments that rare steak was “eww” - they don’t know how to eat steak!) Pork chops were amazing and the vegan burger received praise. I think we all agreed that if we come back to San Francisco, we would definitely have to come back here again. The staff was friendly and kind and that helped make the experience great for us. If you are looking for a quick bite and want a place that serves good food, I hope you give this place a try & have the same good experience we did. Enjoy!

thank you Fin for the excellent service. food was excellent.

LOVE IT THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS AND THE WINE LIST ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL

The new Tad's location on Eddy is a huge improvement. Sleek and modern with a sports bar atmosphere (5 large tvs) and some outdoor seating (covered) with heaters. The bar itself is small. You still order in a line-up, food is brought to uour table. Definitely a good place for large groups. The food is good, about what you'd expect, a decent value for the area. My hamburger patty was frozen but with good char grilled flavor, hash browns frozen but made with real butter, sour dough toast wasn't as fresh as it should be. If you want better diner food, the Pinecrest Diner nearby is better but a little bit in pricier. I would still recommend both.Service was excellent.New ownership and/or management is clearly evident.

Friendly staff. Delicious, properly cooked angus beef steak available. Rib eye steak is also available with MP. Spacious dining area with TVs that play sports and other entertainment

Not too far from Union Square, it's a good place cafeteria-style for a casual bite. You order and pay at the front and then the food is brought to your table. We went there to have breakfast. It is a bit pricey but since the portions are large, you can totally share. We had the Rooster omelette (which comes with hash brown potatoes and two toasts) and some garlic bread as a side dish. The omelette was absolutely delicious and the hash browns were very crispy. Unfortunately, the garlic bread was insipid and had no taste of garlic. Nevertheless, I'd come again.

Great place, great food, wonderful staff.
