We wanted ice cream during our walk so we went on a little trek to Swenson’s. This place definitely has its charms and history. You’ll know what I mean once you’re here. While we were walking down the hill, we were greeted by middle aged locals who were beaming at the cups in our hands. Definitely one of the locals’ favorite! We had the Turkish coffee milkshake, black raspberry marble, and lychee.
I come here just about every time I’m in SFO. The Chocolate Raspberry Truffle is probably my favorite flavor. After walking up the steep hills to get here I figure you earned the right to enjoy the best ice cream that I found in the Bay Area. It’s just up from Lombard St. Enjoy!!
Whenever I visit San Francisco, this place is a must. There are many Swensen's shops in my hometown. I grew up having Swensen's ice cream during the weekend. However, Swensen's is among not the most popular ice cream shops in the US.Right when I knew that not only there is a Swensen's shop in San Francisco, but also it is the first ever Swensen's shop in the world, I didn't hesitate to go there. I had a great time. It is a small shop, but full of great things. Staff are nice. Ice cream is awesome. I haven't had wait time more than 3-5 minutes. This time was my 3rd time here. I always have great experience. Lime sherbet is the best of the best!
Easily one of the best ice cream shops I have been to in the last 10-15 years! Having spent time in dairy country - and my wife having grown up on a dairy farm - we know some good ice cream... and this is GREAT ice cream!!So many good flavors, too. We had like 6 different flavors and everything was great, except the coconut which wifey says was just good. Swiss Orange Chip was probably my favorite, although the Mocha Chip was great too, along with the Turkish Coffee. Wife had Lemon Custard and Black Raspberry Marble that were delicious (I even loved the Lemon Custard). Another great find from the Google reviews!!
No pictures cause I ate it too fast. Review is based on what we had, Sticky Peanut Butter, Coffee, Sticky a chocolate w/ raspberry, Coffee with fudge. All 4 were amazing. I can imagine the rest of their lineup is good as well. The people behind the counter were fun and kind. I honestly don't know how they pack so much ice cream into a pint cup, but when you think they are done they just keep packing! So good! Go eat!
Swensen's is a local favorite. Their ice cream is absolutely divine. Favorite was cookies and cream. If you're exploring the neighborhood with a nice walk, it's the perfect place to stop at nearly the top of the hill for a break for some delicious ice cream. Prices are very reasonable. Staff offer generous tasting samples. You also see a lot of interesting people stopping by here. Love Swensens!
This place has a great variety of ice cream flavors and they are very generous about offering tasting samples. Staff are super friendly, offering suggestions. It's a must visit if you're in the neighborhood. Perfect place to take a break and enjoy the view if you're walking to the top of Russian hill.
Friendly helpful staff, free samples, and delicious full-bodied ice cream. An underrated and under appreciated history of San Francisco.Banana and Toasted Almond ice cream ? was absolutely to die for. I discovered a craving I didn't know have. Photos were an afterthought.? Coming back!
Disappointed on variety of ice cream menu. Not like a franchise branch in other country. Just cone, cup and sundae. If you drive to this location, just skip it don’t waste your time to find a car park and just eat one cone of ice cream.
Got a chocolate/vanilla malt ... Perfection.
