Made a reservation for 9 day of via phone and the workers there were really accommodating. We arrived and instantly marvelled at the comforting and gregariousness of the place, which was accentuated by the arboreous, almost chalet-like interior design of the restaurant. My colleagues and I all impressed with the broad selection of drinks—got a variety of beers, and ciders. The Radler (lemons soda + lager) was a particular favourite of mine, and something I recommend for those who love beer but are not yet as accustomed to the bitterness and stark flavour of the non-mixed beers.In terms of the food, I must say I was the most impressed by the quality and taste of the options. I would recommend the jägerschnitzel (which I got with the breaded schnitzel instead of the sautéed one). The servers were really nice about the slight customisation, and the pork was perfectly crisp, yet juicy inside. That with a well-balancing mushroom sauce and spätzle was just as scrumptious as I remembered back in Berlin. Other strong recommendations are the currywurst as well as the messy fries (which were topped with mouth watering mushroom sauce and melted cheese ?).Overall, 5/5 stars are more than well deserved. ?
We got the sausage platter and every single one was incredible. Well spiced and super juicy and snappy. Great outdoor seating and German beer they serve by the liter (or less if desired). What more could you want?

Great beer. Good food. Better ambiance. Am I in Germany? Feels like it!Update - ive been back to this place many more times since my initial review. It’s one of my fav restaurants in SF.
Food's great! The schnitzel is as good as it is in Austria. More than a many German restaurants can say. I had a glass of Austrian zweigelt with my meal, so it was a huge nostalgia trip for me. Also a fantastic selection of beers.However, the price is simply too high in my opinion. Most of this food is not super complicated or exotic. There's limited options for German cuisine in the bay, so that could be a factor. But the entrees are all just below the $30 mark. And the tip field of the payment machine was calibrated up much higher than the norm, which I think does pressure people into tipping much higher than they otherwise would. The range of tip values go from 20% up to I think 25% or 30%.If you're a rich techie or otherwise are simply willing to shell out for outstanding German food in a beautiful little "keller" I recommend them highly. Just know what you're getting into (or what your wallet is getting into!)
This is a great place for German beers! They had a really good selection of German beers, and I would definitely come back for those.The food, on the other hand, was pretty forgettable. The pretzel we got was a little small (although very tasty and the mustard was great), but the real disappointment was the Jaegerschnitzel. Schnitzel is supposed to be flattened, breaded pork. Suppenkuche's wasn't breaded? It wasn't schnitzel, which is just a culinary bummer.Skip the food, come for the beer!

Good selection of German beers. Food was solid (a minor gripe - some potatoes in the potato salad were not fully cooked). Loved the pretzel! Definitely will be back.
