We stumbled upon this restaurant while in China Town as we were looking for a good authentic Chinese restaurant. It didn’t let us down. The braised Peking duck and house cold noodles were amazing! We will definitely be back!
The atmosphere is an authentic Chongqingese restaurant that you would find in mainland China. The flavors are authentic though the price point was on the higher end. Give it a try if you want to understand more of regional cuisines in China
Good! Really good food, friendly staff, and nice feel to the restaurant. As you would expect from the theme and name, the food is very spicy, even coming from someone who regularly eats spicy food.Food: 4/5
Authentic and very very good. I‘m a big fan of Sichuan food and this was top notch!
Really great spicy food. Can confirm that they do indeed make it spicy. But also tasty!
This was our second trip to Spicy King and true to its name the food was full of spice and flavor. The stir fried veggies were fantastic, sautéed beef with chili was spicy and flavorful and the hot and sour soup with noodles was great. Of course the starter was veggie spring rolls and they really set the tone. Worth the trip and the food seemed even better than last year!
The answer is yes. Just go. So glad we decided to try it. From the appetizer to the meal, it was actually spicy, full of flavor, tender meat. I’ve never had such delicious eggplant. This place is a gem I’m telling you.Oh and our waitress during lunch on a Wednesday was the best!
Not recommend. Chicken was dry and the taste was off. The spicy beef soup was extremely hot and the meat was weird tasting. The only tasty thing was the cucumber salad.
Went in for a quick bite when another chinese restaurant that had been recommended was closed. Had some spicy noodles that were ok and some spring rolls that were delish. From the looks of other table's food, it looked good and sharable portions. Only in San Fran for a couple days and doubt will be able to come back and try more stuff.
I found this place to be really good after stumbling on it using Google Maps. I had been craving for some authentic Dan Dan Noodles for three days and finally gave in and decided to go. Since San Francisco has the largest Chinatown in the world, I figured I'd find something good. Spicy King is nowhere near a "dining experience" so you shouldn't expect an ambiance that entertains, especially if you're traveling or as a tourist. However, in lieu of ambiance, you are getting very good food that is authentic and at very reasonable pricing. My Dan Dan noodles arrived quickly and they were hot. While I wish they had a little more ground pork on them, the noodles were fantastic. I saw people in there eating some very interesting dishes and was tempted to get at least two of them, but my craving was for Dan Dan Noodles and I stuck with that. I would return to this place, without hesitation. By the way, this is one of the few places I went to in the heart of the city that did not appear to have a massive homeless problem. I found myself hanging out in the street after I ate just to soak a little bit of that calmness in. Wile I wasn't asked for proof of vaccination, I did see that the restaurant carded everyone else that came after me.
