As someone who is German, this place is good for the beer and not much else. Wurst and sauerkraut were both VERY dry.
We had the crispy pork shank, it was enough for two (with a appetizer as well) and very, very lovely. It came with red cabbage which was amazing!
I really enjoyed this restaurant. They have a decent selection and it tastes good. The service was very nice and the environment is okay. The thing is, it is extremely loud and the prices are a bit high (that's why I'm rating 4 stars). Other than that, this place was nice
Great German comfort food, and excellent service. Went during a Warriors game and despite being packed, the service was attentive and accurate. Loved the crispy brussels sprouts, giant pretzel, crispy spaetzle, and schnitzel. Portions are huge so order accordingly. A wonderful, festive place to be.
We went for dinner. Enjoyed the large table with benches for seating and the fabulous decor and detail. The interesting history of the place gave us into googling more about it. The menu had several competing choices for me. I ordered the Roasted vegetables with Spaetzle after questioning the waitress to make sure that my choice would come with the amount of vegetables that I wanted. She also described in detail about the Romesco sauce and that sounded good. Husband ordered the Schnitzel dinner that had mushroom gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, saurkraut, red cabbage and lingonberries. The food portions were huge served on large warm pottery dishes. Everything was delicious! My favorite bite was the mashed potatoes. We ate every bite! We lived in Germany in the 1980's and this was tastier than our memories!
We didn't eat food so I only did 3 stars for the beer and bar experience, since that's all I had. Bar stools at the bar are extremely tight and the beer on darft is clearly not tapped correctly, either temperature of kegs of cleanliness. If you have any regularity in drinking specific German beers you can tell it just doesn't taste quite right. That said the space is amazing and staff was wonderful. We would go back and try food in the future.
While nothing was bad in our visit, nothing stood out as excellent either. Most Beers we're clocking in at around $12 per half liter which feels steep. There wasn't anything particularly exciting on tap either. Pretzel and sausage were just okay, but nothing to write home about.
Everyone was incredibly friendly. Food was amazing! Highly suggest the spicy bierwurst.
Yup, their pretzel is pretty good, but slightly dry as others have said. I'd come back to grab some snacks and drinks at this place, but definitely not dinner. We sat outside, which required QR code ordering and payment before getting food. Fine in theory, but it was an issue when the kitchen messed up our order: forgot to add cheese to our burger and a few sides we paid extra for, but couldn't take it off our bill we already paid. The burger had good flavor, but it was TINY! Totally not worth $18.Guy working the bar was nice. The hostesses at the front were clueless and not friendly.
Very good schnitzel and spaetzle. The pretzel is also amazing and very much worth getting the beer cheese with it. I got the sour beer and the cider on tap, which were a little pricey, but not bad at all. Had a great time.
