This is my favorite sushi house. I love it here. Show up at ten to twelve and you always get right in, no reservations. Decent coffee next door although parking can be a challenge.

Omakase at a reasonable price! The staff was very attentive and nice. Enjoyed sitting outside but can’t wait to try this at the sushi counter! Definitely will be back. ?

Lovely little neighborhood spot with quality sushi! They don’t take reservations, so be sure to get there early to beat the line.

My wife and I have been coming here for 10 years. It’s the best value for money sushi I have ever had. We come here every other week and we love it.

Amazing sushi. Get the 12 piece variety so you can try all the different fish. Love that they have flavored sushi rice so you don't really need any sauce with the nigiri. Honestly it was so good I kinda wanted to just order a bowl of sushi rice. Very quick with the tea refills which is important to me because I drink so much of it with my meal. Fantastic service all around.

Great spot for some true sushi and sashimi… we had the spicy dragon, rainbow, salmon avocado and the spider rolls with some sashimi as well, my favorite was the rainbow just coz the quality of the fish was amazing. Also the spicy crackers are fire!

Came with a friend --- the estimated wait time was 1 hour and 15 minutes; we were seated after 1 hour and 5.Service was really great; we shared the salmon skin salad and each got nigiri samplers / omakase. The salmon skin was really crispy, although tough to bite/eat in some places. Can a salad go wrong when you include microgreens? =)Of course, you must always get a dish of edamame. So we did!As far as the fish --- everything was very fresh, and maybe only one piece felt especially fishy. Compared to just-ok places, the vinegar rice was good; not too starchy and dense. Some of the garnishes on the nigiri were really interesting --- I swear there was salsa picante on one (this may have been the butterfly fish), and another had something extremely citrusy. I think the yellowtail came with a sakura blossom leaf, so it was particularly sweet and savory.I unfortunately ate quite a bit before this meal, so after 6 pieces, the sampler got to be overwhelming, but this was a great experience. I'm excited to visit again and try other nigiri.

Excellent food, with near-Michellin quality service and presentation. Will definitely be coming back, especially for the wagyu and the salmon tasting. Definitely a top sushi location in SF.

Lead by Chef Billy who got trained in Kyoto and Kanazawa with Japanese government’s invitation, Saru offers no frill but high quality Sushi with reasonable price for many years, and it’s one of the most loved Sushi place by locals. They also have a good variety of Izakaya menu and the place is family friendly. It is often hard to book so take out is another recommendation.
