Stopped by about 30-40 minutes before closing with my girlfriend. We both ordered #1s as well as their popcorn chicken, which neither of us had seen here before. After placing our order and sitting down, the cashier came to our table to let us know they were out of the regular rice. This would have been nice to know when we first walked in.I went with brown rice, my girlfriend got vegetables. Not the end of the world, but disappointing. Though the rest of the meal was good, the popcorn chicken had a taste I can only compare to Cool Ranch Doritos, which I thought was a little odd.Additionally, the popcorn chicken was very spicy, as was the dipping sauce. How anyone could stand to eat it with the sauce is beyond me, but to each their own.
Very nice restaurant so many Thai optionsI have the chicken noodle soupIf I am any time by the Castro here in San Francisco will absolutely come back
Good khao maan kai, great taste with original sauce. Don’t forget to order pop chicken too, soooo yummy with spicy dipping sauce
$19 for chicken on vegetables?!?Used to like this place and just barely put up with paying $15 because SF is expensive. But this is pretty outrageous at this point. The ingredients cost nothing
This is one of the best authentic Khao Mun Kai in SF!
The Khao Tom Gai I ordered today was not cooked properly. The rice was not simmered long enough for it to become porridge like. It looks like they just cooked rice and mixed it in a little bit of soup. Very disappointing since I often order this from them.
The Castro may be the hip new Asian food district with this sorely needed Neo-Vietnamese place that specializes in street food raised to glory. Don't miss the Chicken Rice, it will convert you. Along with Mama Ji's, this neighborhood is finding new ways to restore S.F.'s great tradition of delicious Asian cuisine that has been long missing.
Very good, but overpriced.
Excellent popcorn chicken
Delicious and healthy, a bit pricy. The portion sizes are a bit too big. Add a side of rice or veggies and that's plenty food for two.
