This is an elegant experience, which prices out to about $10 per piece of sushi . Most diners should be satisfied with a meal of $130 - $140, which is no small change, but worth it and worth savoring. The fish is super-fresh and each piece is complemented by some distinctive additional flavor element(s) that set(s) it off beautifully. Non-sushi courses of miso soup, tofu, cold noodles, and coconut ice cream may appear depending on the evening, and each of them is delicious as well. Outside seats have propane heaters; inside is a bit crowded and can be noisy. Background music is trying too hard to be hip. For this level of quality, you should have jazz or classical as a background so that you are encouraged to slow down and take the time to savor - and SFJAZZ is right around the corner, after all.

Wow, impressive omakase. Well, being a ceramic hobbyist, i LOVED the way each dish was paired with a different and unique hand made dish, well matched in color, texture and shape. This type of attention to details ENHANCED my visual experience. I loved my 3D teacup so much, i wish i could've taken it home.The waitress was friendly without being intrusive and SUPER knowledgeable about what is served as well as fish in general when questions were asked by my date, who fishes.A very lovely experience!Expensive? yes.Worth it? For sure.
Good sushi, but staff were a bit prickly. Sushi chef was quite kind, but difficult to understand and didn’t know many of the Japanese words for the various pieces.

We sat at the sushi counter. Our server recommended several delicious sake glasses that went really well with the food. Our tasting was inventive, creative, and endlessly interesting. Our chef was wonderful and we had such a lovely time. The vibe was neat, lots of 90's R&B and a few rap jams, soft light, and a cozy feeling.
Amazing experience. I love the fact that you can set your own budget. For our case, it was between $89 to $189. So, you can just say your own budget, and they will adjust the menu for you!We got the maximum one, $189. We asked for less rice on every nigiri.So, in total, I think (my count might be wrong), we got about 9 side dishes, and about 22 (or 23) nigiris. That's totally worth it given the amount and variety of food that we got.Though the fish cuts were smaller than we normally get from other high-end omakase places. Still, I like that we got a lot of different types of fishes. All the fishes were great.Uni was a bit different since I was expecting it to be sweet, yet it wasn't.They always put some sauce or garnish the nigiris, so you get that explosive flavor. Some people might like this, some people might not. Mainly because I imagine some people want to taste the high-quality raw fish flavor. Just purely the fish flavor with minimal garnish. Though I'm sure you can ask them to do that for you, tell them that you want very minimal garnish because you want to taste the pure fish or something.They normally don't give out ginger, we had to ask for it. The ginger is different too, not sweet at all. More like on the raw ginger side, I liked it regardless.Their dinnerwares were great as well. They gave some kind of unique experience because every sake glass is just different.Overall, a nice experience. Definitely great for those who just started to want to try an omakase experience as they can go with the cheapest budget option.Though I wonder what if you have a higher budget than their highest allocation? Can they do it? Like, say you have $250 budget. Will they give bigger cut of every fish? No idea. This is also interesting, say you ask for their highest budget ($189), but you just ask for less food but bigger cut of fishes. Will they be able to do it? Unsure.
This is my favorite restaurant in SF. The food is incredible, unlike anything I've eaten before. It's the best sushi I've ever had and even the non-sushi dishes are life changing. The restaurant is beautifully designed and decorated. The staff is attentive and accommodating. THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLE. This spot is great for any special occasion, or if you just really want the best Japanese food in SF
I cannot say enough good things about Robin. The 2 times I ate here were the best 2 meals of my life. They did a wonderful job creating a custom menu for us that was our desired price point, included our favorite things, and allowed us to try new things that we loved! Each course is served on beautiful handmade ceramics that elevate the food. The meal ended with the most delicious coconut soft serve ice cream. I truly can't wait to visit again!
